If I were playing an opponent... 2 ball to hit the short rail 1/2 diamond right of the pocket. Follow on the CB and slowly rebound off the short rail.. to hide the CB behind the 9 & 7. If there wasn't so much traffic on the table.. I'd try to run 4 rails with the CB toward the 3. .

That IMO is what kills your pattern. To play 2-3 balls ahead, you need to position the CB, where it WANTS to go. You can't stop the CB with a slow stroke on an angled shot. You need to play shape off the angle the CB follows. You could hit the CB harder than you've been doing to let it travel...

Do you have difficulty aiming when CB center is past the outside edge of your OB? Think how far the CB edge would be beyond the OB center.. It's the same distance. .

Another variation.. The CB is on the head spot and OB on the foot spot... Hit a stop shot on the OB... Stop the CB dead and have the OB rebound back into the CB... Use a speed that leaves both of the balls somewhere between the foot spot and side pockets. .

What makes this hard to do with a draw stroke.... As the CB slows down it wants to flip over toward one side and comes off the rail with side spin.
