I misscue with one shaft and never misscue in another; what gives? Reason

justadub.... That's a good one.. If all else is the same.. one tip may be harder and needs to be chalked every shot. IMO .

Diamond Pool Tables - Degree of Difficulty

No... I'm talking about shooting from between the foot spot and the rail. The side pocket opening gets smaller, as the OB gets closer to the rail. You can pocket from inside the spot with 5" pockets.. With 4 1/2" sides the OB needs to be closer to the spot in order to clear the pocket point...

Diamond Pool Tables - Degree of Difficulty

A side pocket can be tight or loose.. BUT.. a side pocket less than 5" wide can be problematic. The OB cut angle may get way too shallow, when the OB is between the spot and the long rail. With wide side pockets the pocketing angle becomes closer to the rail for pocketing in the side. Wider...

Diamond Pool Tables - Degree of Difficulty

My table has 4 5/16" corner pockets at 142* with 3/16" neoprene facings.. My sides are 5" at 102*.. 860HR Simonis cloth with SuperSpeed cushions. 2 balls will not start in the corners. I can hit those pockets with speed. The key word here is to HIT those pockets. I didn't say you could hit the...

Diamond Pool Tables - Degree of Difficulty

IMO a tighter table does not favor the slower/softer hitting player.. I think it favors the better player.. the player that has a good stroke, and knows how to play a true game. Stroke and cue ball movement is certainly part of the game. For better players that is not only moving the CB with...

Diamond Pool Tables - Degree of Difficulty

Folks that don't like tight pockets might be over spining the cue ball for position. The CB squirts and the OB hits the tighter pocket points. Balls would go into a looser playing pocket. Moving the CB with follow and draw for position is better. .

    Overlaps and Center CB

To answer your question "What are the cut angles?". A - 30 degrees.... B - 48.6 degrees.... C - 61 degrees... by using the CB edge as you show. BUT... how do you aim for a 7 or 12 degree cut angle? Or at an angle smaller than 30*? The CB always looks bigger than your OB. The further away the...

    Overlaps and Center CB

. Is it easier to aim center CB to a precise point, or aim the CB edge for a OB overlap? This is for folks who aim by overlapping both balls. Just making a questionable point. .

Tips on how to appreciate 8ball

Some players can get in trouble by always playing for precise shape in 8 ball. There's times to do it but to play for shape on multiple balls is a better choice. .

    stroking straight question

Bend your arm at the elbow. The only way your hand can move, is directly toward your shoulder. If your hand moves to the left or right of your shoulder it has been internally or externally rotated. The chicken wing moves the cue sideways, or wobbles toward the side unless you compensate. It's...

    stroking straight question

Not a instructor so take this advice with reservation. Line the cue with the long rail. With your elbow also over the rail, stroke your cue back and forth in rail alignment, to see what's creating a wobble. You can also try 'pushing' the cue through the CB. With a tight grip and slight chicken...

    Easy Fractions

It would be hard to find those exact ball positions... but they are very good references. Your diagrams are good PJ.. Red on a green background makes it hard to see clearly. .

    Overlaps and Center CB

When standing, find your pocket angle first. Check your angle when you're down. AFTER you know your angle the above lines are where you aim Center Cue Ball. No need to pocket balls using fractions, but to understand them improves aiming. .

Finding Quarter Ball (A / C in CTE)

Finding the quarter IS a visual determination. Quarter ball is 1/2 distance from OB center to OB edge. The exact 1/4 ball distance is 9/16" or (.562) from OB center or OB edge..... 1/8 ball is 9/32" or (.281) .
