TAR 34 SVB/Efren 8 Ball: Open After Break or Make It Take It?

Make it, take it. Friday was brilliant pool but I did think it was too easy for these guys. With make it, take it, more strategy comes into play, and more safety play. Plus, the stream might last a little longer.

Open Letter to Justin from TAR

Not sure which game you're referring to but if it's 8-ball I agree. Much more traffic on a bar box than a regulation table.

Open Letter to Justin from TAR

I don't like playing 14.1 - I don't have the skills or the patience - but I love watching it played at a high level. When I was younger it was the default game in every tournament. The first tournament I ever saw was at the Roosevelt Hotel in NY, sometime in the early 80s. Miz was playing, and...

OB Presents TAR 34: Efren Reyes vs Shane Van Boening All Around

“The following preview has been approved for all audiences by the action players association of America.” That was funny, dude.

OB Presents TAR 34: Efren Reyes vs Shane Van Boening All Around

I think it will be tough for Efren, who hasn’t been playing that well. And SVB’s eyes are a lot younger. I’d say Efren might win the 1-hole, but I don’t like his chances much in the other games. It will be a lot of fun to watch, though.

If you don't use side english exept on short shots, is an LD shaft worth it?

My bad. I got the terminology wrong. I was talking about a soft semi-masse, not squirt.

If you don't use side english exept on short shots, is an LD shaft worth it?

The CB will still squirt on short shots if you apply English and hit it firm. There are specialty shots, like a drag draw with English, where the CB will squirt at the last minute, when the CB starts to slide. But if you hit it firm it will deflect from the get-go. So LD shafts, if you like...

    Super Billiard Expo 2013

Pittsburgh is a lot farther away from the major populations centers – NY, NJ, Philly. They’d lose a lot of day traffic. And night traffic. I think Edison is a pretty good location. Dunno about the venue itself, I wasn’t there. I watched it from a more convenient location – home. I hope they...

I like Earl, but he'll always be a sore loser. Always has and always will.

I don't know the story but that kind of thing doesn't usually happen to people. If he was hustling he should have known the risk went along with the reward.

Being captain of the Mosconi Cup isn't a career, it's a one-time, short-term gig. But still, kudos to you for having gotten it.

I like Earl, but he'll always be a sore loser. Always has and always will.

I think he should go with the meds. He's not even in the top 30 of money-winners in pro pool, so his winnings are somewhere south of $4k. And he could still give lessons, which I imagine are his primary source of income. And you can't put a price on feeling happy, relaxed and peaceful. I wish...

I like Earl, but he'll always be a sore loser. Always has and always will.

Can you imagine SVB or Ralf or Efren lashing out like that? If they did, there would be a 15-page thread on here about how they'd lost it.

Obviously I would try to take it in stride.

I like Earl, but he'll always be a sore loser. Always has and always will.

His day job these days is house pro at Steinway Billiards. He wouldn’t have gotten the job if he were Joe Nobody and didn’t have fans. And he would get a lot fewer students if he were Joe Nobody. When you throw in his tournament winnings, paid for by sponsors and fans buying tickets, I still...

But Jack and Tiger they walk up to fans and shake their hands, or give them high-fives. It's part of the game. Completely agree. He can do whatever he pleases. That's his call. But, as in any sport, the fans are the ones who pay their rent. If there weren't any fans who buy tickets, etc...

I like Earl, but he'll always be a sore loser. Always has and always will.

He did get disqualified from a big tournament a year or two ago, but mostly his behavior is tolerated. A shout-out to the TD who had the balls to DQ him. But because it's Earl, and he's one of the all-time great players, he's usually cut a lot of slack. But still, he's done more than his fair...

Somebody diagnosed him as bipolar. If he is, how come we've never seen the other pole? The bright, happy one?

Huh? Logic, or some semblance of it, is the teacher.
