Can pool players benefit by crossing-over to 3-cushion billiards?

Yeah, I think I'd lean toward this answer but there is no single all-encompassing answer to your question. Some of it depends on your own strengths and weaknesses. If you're a poor kicker, you'll certainly see an improvement. If you're looking to expand the capabilities of your stroke, 3C...

    Cue Ball Behind Head String

I'm sorry in advance if this sounds like nit picking but officially there are no BCA rules anymore. There is BCAPL which recognizes its own rules but the BCA officially recognizes the WPA rules. In fact, there are differences between BCAPL rules and BCA/WPA rules. That said, what can happen...

How high? Low vs. high stance....

I'm going to offer a different "perspective" on this. My stance will vary depending on how hard I want to hit the cue ball. If I have a long shot and just want to pocket the ball, I'll get very low. If I'm cranking up the speed, I'll get a little higher in my stance to allow for more arm...

    APA nationals singles... few ?s

Did you beat me? :) I had a pretty good run at the Texas Open. Until I reached the final 32, my slumps had good timing. :)

I knew it was Austin! Having recently moved here from New York, I have to say, it is so weird how popular 8-footers are here!

Transition for 8 to 9 Ball help

It sounds like you're a bit of a beginner. If that's the case, leave strategy aside for now and focus on pocketing balls. I know the strategy behind each game can get fascinating and can often be the determinant between winners and losers but as you progress through your salad days, the best...

    APA nationals singles... few ?s

In my opinion, I would start by going to Youtube and searching for 9ball matches on barboxes. There are tons. Search for "USBTC 9ball" and that'll get you started. The key difference between barbox and 9-foot 9ball is simple. In barbox, pocketing balls is much easier so your goal is about...

✬ Sept 1-5 43rd Annual Texas Open 9 Ball Mosconi Cup Points Event

Honestly, I have made zero effort to find good kosher food in Texas. There's just too much good food here to bother trying to find something that would remind me of New York. That said, I have found some good pizza. It's not New York pizza but it's still damn good.

And I'm sad to say, since my credit score is still higher than my FargoRating, I'm still not a pool player.

✬ Sept 1-5 43rd Annual Texas Open 9 Ball Mosconi Cup Points Event

I just want to thank you guys for putting on such a great show. Skinny Bob's only has 16 tournament tables yet managed a 128 player field elegantly and professionally. I thought the overall atmosphere among players was polite and that is usually a reflection of how they're treated by the...

Anyone CURRENTLY Using POISON JUMP BREAK?? Any Recommendations

I have one. I changed out the phenolic tip for leather. It makes a solid break cue and I loan it out to friends as a back-up shooting cue. It's still pretty low deflection, much like your average Predator cue. As for jumping, I've seen better.

    A little update

HAHAHAHAHHAHA! YOU THINK I HAVE A BASEMENT?!?!!?!! I live in Texas now, sir. There are no basements! You can fight for the couch but bear in mind, my two dogs called dibs and the pit bull can be a bit of a space hog.

    A little update

Did I say Jeanette started playing after 20? Well, let me correct myself then! I met her when we were both about 19 years old and she had been playing for years by then. Looking back now, it's hard to say how strong she was at the time. I'd say her 9-ball game was around strong B to weak A...

    Hanging scoring beads

The best advice I can give you is to buy the wood beads and go to Home Depot for some metal rods. They cost no more than $4 apiece and you should be able to clamp them onto just about anything. Ideally, if you have two chains supporting your light fixture, you should be able to run the rods...

    Austin Anyone?

Well, I started my four day trek from New York to Austin on Friday feeling perfectly fine. By the time I hit New Jersey (almost two hours through grinding traffic), I felt a cold coming on. I made it to Richmond, Virginia that day, played at Jim Gottier's poolroom called "Greenleaf's" which...
