APA needs to step it up

Seriously, the arrow and Indian argument is asinine. If that were true, we would all be using house cues. Obviously precise equipment matters.

APA needs to step it up

I understand in theory, one could argue that both players are subjected to the same equipment so it shouldn’t matter. Like if this were a football game, both teams have to deal with the snow. In pool, it really does matter. There’s a difference between tough equipment and unpredictable...

APA needs to step it up

Yes officer. This is the rack that stole my break. I tried flipping it too. The rack was so small, it was lifting balls when I tried to lift the rack.

APA needs to step it up

Diamond and BCAPL had a common owner. That’s no longer the case.

How do players feel about this?

APA needs to step it up

Most events I travel for, I see Super Aramith or Cyclop balls, if triangle racks are used, they’re always rigid. Cue balls are always standard size. Variance between tables is minimal. Did you not at least notice the soft plastic racks and cheap balls?

APA needs to step it up

I understand APA criticism is aplenty on azb and I apologize for the redundancy. I’m starting a new thread because I just got back from their Singles Championships, escorting my girlfriend (2018 Texas State BCA B Division Women’s Champion) who qualified to play in both 8 and 9. I was...

    US Amateur

In all fairness, there are questions here bigger than Brian Parks and the US Amateurs. How important is it to protect amateur fields? If we choose to protect amateur fields, how do we do it? Is there enough data in Fargo to justify using it as the primary determinant for protecting amateur...

When I said that wasn't the same player, I was commenting on his level of play. He is actually the same person.

    US Amateur

Oscar or Mike may have a 3-5% chance at winning the US Open any given year which is different than the average amateur who has <.01%. Extrapolate that to the average length of a pool player's career (20 years?) and and suddenly you're looking at the statistical likelihood of the event taking...

    ...

I had a horrible time when I switched to soft lenses. I went through a few brands before I found the one that's right for me. Before, I couldn't even take a 10 minute nap without being in pain. That's never a problem now.

I don't agree with anything you said. I've played both the guys you're talking about and I think your assessment is way off.

Yeah, just saw that. That's not the player I saw yesterday on the stream.

I don't think it's right to ban anyone from playing in anything. And, you're right. I just read the article about the tournament he won and saw who he beat. That's not the player I saw on the stream this weekend. The player I saw this weekend looked like a high caliber amateur.

Not necessarily. It's *currently* 722. BCAPL rules state you can't be over 720 at the time of registration. Do you know what his FargoRating was a couple months ago?

    US Amateur

YES! We have to be very careful when it comes to banning any player from any competition. Besides, I think the APA has created plenty of opportunities for all of the hacks in the world to make thousands of dollars. Nothing like seeing someone who can't make one ball in a row score a 15k...

Yeah, I know Tony Robles' game quite well and saw Brian in the finals yesterday. I would bet the house on Tony over Brian (no offense to Brian). That said, my opinion is, Brian should definitely be allowed to play. I thought it was an entertaining event that showcased a fun talent pool...

When ameteur competitors consistantly cash in professional events

I would like to add to your post, there is no such thing as pro pool. Seriously, how many American pool players are actually making a living at pool? Five? Ten? Even if it's 30, that's not enough to encompass the guy around 700 Fargo. When you ban someone from competition because they're...

When ameteur competitors consistantly cash in professional events

I'll preface this by saying, I think FargoRate is awesome and doing a lot of good for pool. That said, I hate the idea of it being used to cap entries. Yes, there are professional players out there that you may not want playing in your amateur-intended event but there are also a number of...

    Sure, if it looks intentional.
