A conversation with Anthony Meglino: The best player many people have never heard of...

He plays on the Brunswick when he is there. The Gandy’s are sold and they will be getting Diamonds soon.

    I use Ultraskin Ivory Medium.

    My first tip install

I thought I was lucky to just find a Titlist relatively cheap. To get a Purpleheart with figure, is perfectly amazing. I put the pin in last night. Cored with maple.

I didn’t core it. I bored out the first 5-6 inches and filled it with cotton. Then the tenon, ferrule and tip.

    Is this anything at all?

If the ferrule is not cracked anywhere, it should be able to be reinstalled and a good tip with it. Find someone in your area to do it right.

I’ve done some experiments with hollowing out the shaft. Nothing conclusive yet.

I know some use a metal lathe with some modifications to do shafts. Not sure of the price though. Amazon won’t have much that would be worth while. I would love to have a cheap tip lathe to have as a portable unit but cheap and good don’t go together here.

    Taper Bar

I’ll ask the same question but for a Mid America lathe. I assume it should. MA doesn’t offer one. Maybe they will with the new owner but I do not see one yet.

Yes those types of LD shafts are hollow. The thin walls plus being thin strips laminated together can’t handle the extremes of breaking. A miscue can add additional side forces too.

That or maybe breaking with it did it. Thank you

There is a cue that I have always admired even before I started working on cues. The Brunswick Titlist cues from the 26 ½ to the Titlist one-piece to the Willie Hoppe Professional. Just something about it I have always liked. Early on I got my hands on a 1940’s Willie Hoppe Pro and a 1970 one...

    My first tip install

Well, it has been an interesting few months. I did make a slight spelling change to my brand name from Escott to Esscot. I accidently deleted my YouTube channel in the process so now its EsscotCues42 I continue to do repairs. Most are simple tip or ferrule replacement. However, a few...

Ebony Dufferin Cues and a Girly Bonus

That would have been my next suggestion, but I didn’t know how far you wanted to modify it. I’ve been loving mine. Only reason I might change is I finally got my hands on a Titlist one piece to convert. Been looking for the right one for a few years. I have ideas for the other Ebony. Hope to...

Ebony Dufferin Cues and a Girly Bonus

Very nice! That bumper is just on with a screw. You can get any different screw on type to replace or have the end threaded and maybe recessed a bit for a threaded bumper. My current player is a one piece Ebony conversion I made. I still have the second one I will convert someday. I may be...

Are You Capable Of Building A Heavy Version KW Shaft?

Glad you found someone to get the job done. Definitely possible with the right wood. Just finished this one. 12.75mm, 0.850" joint, 29” long. Right at 4oz.
