Reflections on a life of Pool

I am still in Houston - live out in Tomball nowadays. Not sure if we've ever played - I haven't been out and about much in a while, When I do play, it's normally at Big Tyme. Last tournament I played in, I drew Sylver and Billy Sharpe playing 9B on a bar box - needless to say I went a very ugly...

Reflections on a life of Pool

I started playing pool in 1988 when I was 16 - my parents got divorced and I lived with my Dad. We had very little in common or to talk about, but pool changed all that, we practically lived in our local bar (3 valley bar tables) for the next 2 years and our time together revolved around us...

    Billy Incardona - Short Rant

Was it a mistake? Sure .... Was it intentional? Highly doubt it Was it racist? Sure, it could be perceived as such ... Was it intentionally racist? Again, I highly doubt it. In my opinion, it seems to me that it was more of a "spur of the moment" comment that was in error, but certainly not...

I'll go ahead and take it ....... Please send me the cue in advance, along with a Steve Klapp 5 pointer and a postage paid box that will allow me to ship it to New Zealand. In addition a picture of you holding a sign saying "I'm a scammer" and a dozen roses should be included in the box. Once...

Freddy the beard has left us

Only interacted with him once when I bought his book - but was beyond courteous and friendly to me. My sincere condolences to his family and may he rest in God's hands now.

    Challenge of Champions dump

The man regarded as one of the best 9 ball players of his era simply doesn't miss that combination when there's $50K on the line. OK - maybe he misses it once out of 1,000 times. So we should conclude that a miss on a shot that BH makes 999 out of 1,000 times, coupled with a 20-1 betting line...

I need this to be known.....

Could we make this something formal here at AZ and set up a time period (maybe a week) for people to donate and send via Paypal to an AZ member who will then send it to SSGT Geer? I'm in to donate directly if we can't put this together but thought doing it this way would be more beneficial to him.

    Match with John

Congrats on the win. It was a good match and I enjoyed watching it. Win or lose, I tip my hat to you both for posting the money, showing up and playing it out - shows a lot of heart on both sides. There was a good amount of money at stake and it takes a lot to put that in middle and play for it.

Huge thanks to AZ Member - Slim

Just wanted to give a public "Thank you" to AZ Member Slim for going above and beyond. I posted that I was looking for autographed billiard balls to add to my collection and he sent me a PM saying he was going to the Derby and if I told him what I was looking for, he'd buy the balls and go...

    LTB - Autographed Pool Balls

I collect autographed pool balls and am looking to add to my current location. I have about 100 so far, but am looking for balls with older players autographs (60's and 70's era) and several new ones that I'm missing. Please PM me with what you have and an asking price for each - I may have...

    Thanks to Steve Klapp .....

Just wanted to give a public "Thank you" to Steve Klapp. I sent him an older Karella cue that I've been playing with since 1995 for a refinish and new wrap. Received it back today and all I can say is "Wow" and "Thank you" - the cue literally looks better than I day I bought it. It's the best...

    Thinking about going Pro

Unsolicited advice - go to college or learn a trade, get a steady source of income (full time job) - play pool on the side. Out of the two activities, there is significantly more money in poker, but a full time, stable source of income trumps both in my opinion.

    WTB Richard Black Cue

Just to clarify - I was not hijacking the thread in any way. I had indicated to Bob Farr in this post and via PM that I would purchase his R. Black - and then all hell broke loose in my house when the significant other found out - I decided that this battle was lost and respectfully withdrew my...

    Slick Willie's - Houston - Westheimer - Closed

I own a rental property about 4 miles from there - the last time I played in that pool hall during the day was about 3 years and in my opinion, that entire neighborhood has declined a tremendous amount in the last few years There's a host of cultural and economic changes in that area - that's...

    Let's Talk About Shane's Gambling Problem . . .

Is he living in a carboard box? Dealing drugs? Getting arrested for robbing stores? No. He's over 21, makes a good living and frankly - it's not my or anyone else's business to comment on how he chooses to spend the money he makes. If he wants to spend it on downloading midget porn and...

Open Offer to Danny Harriman and John Schmidt from TAR

You are 100% correct sir! It's not like Justin has any experience at all putting together money matches or streamed events -I'm also pretty sure he's clueless when it comes to pool and pool players. I'm sure that you can give him some great pointers from your years of extensive experience. For...

    Lizard/Steve Smith

He was in Houston about 15 years ago and I ran into him, not knowing who he was. Played him a cheap race even (5 for $50.00 - 9 ball on bar box) - I broke dry the first rack and didn't see the table again. Strong player - not sure of his literary talents but probably make for an interesting read.

I use the TNT break cue with a Samsara tip - came in right at $200.00 shipped to me and I couldn't be happier with it.
