    Dean in the hospital

Dean, Have you thought about being involved with a Hustler's tournament? I live in the right place. Gambling has been going on in Ruidoso since the Twenties. Plenty of venues after Racing season is over. Lots of cheap motels. All you would need is players and backers. I could help. Bill Stroud

The Balabushka once owned by Phil Spector

I rode in that car with Phil from the Billiard Den to Cantors Deli. The car only had a fiberglass sort of a passenger seat. Really uncomfortable. His bodyguard followed us in a Ferrari Dino. When we got to Cantors the place was full with Hells Angles. One group got up so Phil could have their...

The elusive Balabushka gold glitter wedding band ribbon rings

George shared many things with me when I was in Aspen. Methods and materials. The day his father died we talked for two hours. I don’t think he would have lied to me about anything. The simple solution is most often the correct solution. Bill Stroud

Rare AP footage of Willie Mosconi playing snooker

Rex had no idea how to play straight pool. Anyone could have beaten him. Mosconi at least knew how to play a little Snooker on the 5x10. I could have beat Mosconi very easily playing Snooker at that time. Bill Stroud

    Cool old Josswest stuff...............

I didn't make a lot of box cues. Many were made for myself to play with. Very few had the silver veneers. My favorite were the pink ivory wood ones. Most were made in CO. The first were made in Tulsa. Bill Stroud

Rare AP footage of Willie Mosconi playing snooker

As I remember Willie and Rex Williams were doing exhibitions across the US at that time. It was for a liquor brand. I was at the one they did at the Denver Athletic club and it was on a 5x10. Willie really had no chance playing snooker with Rex. Bill Stroud

    Eddie Taylor Bank Record

When Taylor and I were traveling on the road we would practice bank pool so I would learn. In Memphis in one game he banked 14 in a row. He always played me one handed to two so I had some chance. Bill Stroud

    Eddie Taylor Bank Record

Taylor was gambling at 15 ball bank when he ran 37 banks. When I was on the road with Taylor he told me the story first hand. During that time there was no 9 ball banks. You would go into a pool room in the South of say 20 tables and 18 of them would have a sign above them that said BANK POOL...

The elusive Balabushka gold glitter wedding band ribbon rings

I hate to blow up everyone’s bubble but when I last visited George he told me the rings were from candy wrappers the he got from the store just down the block from his house. I think he was telling me the truth. That would explain the seam. Bill Stroud

Please elaborate on the essence of the original Balabushka cues.

There is so much BS on this thread that I just have to respond. George used a sealer made by Randolf Products called sealer#89. He used blanks from Brunswick, Spain, Szamboti. They made NO difference in how his cues played. For the record I taught Gus how to make blanks over the phone. Just...

    Brite-Tone: new waterborne finish

I can not list all the finish products I tried over 45 years of cue making but one incident stands out. In Aspen I was helping a friend refinish his AC Ace. The precursor to the Cobra. It had an all aluminum body and he did some research to see what the best paint would be. At that time trucks...

    U.J. Puckett's cue ?

When I was traveling with UJ he was playing with an old Rambo. He had black electrical tape holding the points together. He had played with that cue for a long time. Later he bought a Tad. Bill S.
