    14.1 league owners

We're in our 9th year with ours and run a round robin format that consistently has 20-25 players. For us, it takes several months because each player plays every other player in the league. It's great that you have as much interest as you do. I'd sign up as many players as possible, and adjust...

    Rule question

Sure. Thanks for the interest. I actually have a bit more info now. Apparently, the gentleman who was on 2 fouls pocketed a ball legally on his next shot, and moved a different ball in the process. The pocketed ball was down, of course, and the only other ball moving was the cueball. We play...

House cues @ Jillians in San Franfrisco

Cues We have 'rental' cues. Nice cues, well kept, with nice layered tips that we keep fresh and rent or loan out for situations like these. It's hard to imagine that a room like Jillians doesn't. Or, am I giving them too much credit? FWIW, I think you made a good choice going to 'Family...

    Rule question

Ok, so here's one that came up in our annual 14.1 league. A player is on 2 fouls, and has been warned, and then makes a legal shot and pockets a ball. He then accidently touches a ball and instinctively grabs it and moves it back without giving his opponent the option of leaving it. Is that his...

    Ike Runnles.

So, there's Ike Runnels, and Ike Runnels jr., right? I played with Ike Runnels Jr. (I think) in the 2005 U.S. Open 1 pocket. He played great and was a class act in the face of some stressful events. We hung out a bit, and I would have put him at 30-35 years old. Maybe I'm wrong, but there's no...

    Ronnie Allen Has Passed

My guess is that most on here are like me. Either we knew Ronnie a little or not at all. Some obviously knew him better than that. I met him a couple of times, and spent some time talking to him at the 2005 U.S. Open 1 pocket. I remember telling him that if he would move to Medford, I would play...

anybody know anything about this cue

I'm sure you would have liked a guy like Jim. You could walk into his shop and tell him you were interested in a cue, and he'd lay them out on a table-Ginas, Blacks, Szambotis, Schicks, Cogs and South Wests, Benders, whatever, and say "well, hit some with those and tell me what you think." It...

anybody know anything about this cue

Jim Oswald passed away a few months ago. Those that knew him know that he did more in the world of custom cues than just about anyone. The 'Elan' was one of his, along with many others with just about every cue maker you could name. He once told me that Southwest offered him a deal to buy EVERY...

    Removing old contact cement

Wow. Stapled on rubber. 'Just when you think you've seen it all' Good luck with your table.

7 ft table multiple piece slate

Olhausen and Connelly are certainly a couple. Pretty much all 'furniture style'-that is non coin operated, wood tables with leather drop pockets-will be 3 piece slate. Golden West would be another, and I'm sure there must be a few others still in business.

    Murrey bar box recover

Yeah, I was just kidding. When you're moving them around the feet can get bent and it's often smart to take them out. I think Kerry has rails in stock for this table, or he can certainly make them.

    Murrey bar box recover

I had 3 of these exact tables in the pool room before the Diamonds. Of course, mine had feet! Where are the feet!? IMO, any rail replacement for bar tables starts with Kerry at Ridgebackrails.com . He'll take care of you.

Is there such a thing as centerball?

I'd say if there is a 'slightly above' center, and 'slightly below', as well right and left, then at some point there has to be an exact center. You couldn't go from above to below without passing the exact center, right? Right.

    Brunswick Wellington...?

Cool old table. Definately not a Wellington in my opinion. Brunswick did have a name plate in that shape. I love the construction of the old tables. The screws and the bolts holding the frame together do look like Brunswick to me.

Have You Ever Snapped A Cue ?

Yep. A few. Also tennis and raquetball raquets, golf clubs and even a fishing pole once :embarrassed2: Luckily, I finally grew up.

    Original Moori Tips

The hardest thing, IMO, about threads concerning everything from tips, to aiming systems, to cues, to various chalk choices, and everything else, is trying to figure whether the person posting knows enough and plays well enough to have an opinion that carries weight. To me, this opinion carries...
