    Pool Room Sell Out

When was the last time you saw a sell out pool hall? Been a while. It can be busy during the holiday season, but it's great to see a thread about a 'sell out pool hall' that's not about, you know, the sell out of a pool hall. Thanks for the post!

Is the shop vac pro too strong??

We use a 1hp shop vac. I'm not sure I'd use anything more powerful, but I think you'd be better off with a brush attachment if you do. I have a brush shaped just like the one you used that I got from a Kirby dealer. It works good and doesn't suck down tight to the cloth.

    Granito cloth

Granito makes excellent cloth. I used Basalt in the pool room for many years before 860hr was available because I found it to play great and be more durable than regular 860. I always figured the reason Simonis made 860hr was to compete with the durability of Basalt and Tour Edition from...

    Cushions

Sure they weren't talking about rail nuts? Rails can be attached with plates, threaded inserts, or 'floating' nuts placed inside the rail. I wouldn't say one is better than another-there's good and bad examples of each.

Why not make the old rubber profiles?

Makes sense. I bet you couldn't find anyone at Brunswick that could tell you why they don't fit.

    Pool table Identification please

There's lots of imported tables sold under many names in stores and on the internet that are that basic style. We installed American Heritage tables for Costco and I don't remember any that didn't have a name plate. I bought all of the tables when Rockwell Billiards went under and the oak ones...

    Cue tip installation questions..

This is the right move, IMO. You can certainly learn to do tips, but a 14mm Kamui on a 11.75 z2 shaft without a lathe wouldn't be the one I'd want to start with if there's a professional option available. I charge $7 to install someone's own tip, FWIW. Then you can buy some tips and practice on...

Quality, yet affordable, table brush or mini-vac?

We use the little black and red 1 gallon mini 'hang up' shop vac with the handle on the top. You can carry it around and use a wide brush attachment (that can be a little hard to find, I got mine from a Kirby dealer) to do the table bed and under the rails. I disassembled mine today as it quit...

Quality, yet affordable, table brush or mini-vac?

We use a mini shop vac-1 horse power with a handle on the top- and a brush attatchment to clean the tables. It works great for the tables, and he can also use it for other things. It's in your price range, and it'll work great, but be forewarned, with the abrasive chalk dust, it won't last...

    is it possible.....

Yep, that's as close as you can get, IMO. I actually said that very thing to Kerry when he made rails for me. "Build these at the correct angles to make them play like Diamonds". Kerry is a true professional and makes a great product. You'll be happy with both his product and his service. Keep...

Dissapointed with GCIII Recover, your thoughts please...

That's pretty bad, especially since they put on new rubber. The angles aren't even close. You'll hate the way those corners will play and they'll get worse as the cloth wears. I'd seriously consider having someone other than the guys who left it like that work on it from here. There's a handful...

Merry Christmas to you also. Hope you are well.

Antique Brunswick rails and legs Id

I refinished a table once with rails and legs identical to those. We had it figured to be a Saratoga. It had a rounded 'pot belly' style frame. Just another possibility.

    Help i have blue hands

We use a little one horse shop vac and a brush attachment. Be careful not to chalk over the table while playing, and keep a table cover on it when you're not playing. A lot of what's on the average table is dust in the air that settles there.

Is it hard to replace table felt yourself?

I'd look seriously at having a professional do it. Simonis is difficult to install correctly. Your Fisher is likely a glue job, and it's not that you can't do it, but if you're going to spend the extra $, you want to be satisfied with the result. I'd say that's rare for someone covering their...

    Tan Chalk

Me too. I'd rather a player used blue, but I'd rather you play with tan than play somewhere else.

Well, sure. But did they actually go out in the ocean and catch the fish for you? Just sayin'.

billiard table parts (names and quantities)

That's a tough one, but here's some thoughts. If it's really an oversized 4x8, it's probably American made. The Chinese haven't really embraced that size, so that narrows it down a bit. A 'detailed list' would depend entirely on the make, age, and style of the table. If it's a 'funiture style'...

    Brunswick Convertible?

I worked on a Brunswick Pfister with this rail design some years back. It was a 9 foot table with pool and carom rails that were stored in their own custom wooden box. It's the only one I've ever seen, and I remember thinking that it was a cool design, but I was skeptical that it could be solid...
