Went to play at my local pool room today, well its not that local, 30 minute drive or so. I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in. 39 out of 40 tables in use! Made it 40/40 when I booked a table. Never ever seen that, not even close. For the 6 hours I was there the 40 tables remained in use.
There were no league games or tournaments being held so everyone was paying for their table time. I think its absolutely great to see.
The other great thing was the amount of youngsters playing with their dads. Atleast 10 kids I'd say 10-16 playing. Rarely see young people playing pool and snooker here and it can only be a good thing.
At first I put it down to the new bar maid...but I doubt it. If it is the owners on to a winner! Haha. I think the real reason is most people have time off work for Christmas/ new year and it just goes to show that pool is alive and well if people can find time off work.
When was the last time you saw a sell out pool hall?
