    Hampton Ridge Billiards (supplier)???

Hampton Ridge I heard the same thing about Hampton Ridge from a supplier a week ago. I think they are done. But, honestly, 70 years?!, Big congrats, and best wishes to your parents!

How do you hit and aim the cue ball to make this bank shot?

Bank The same guy has another bank there where he does something similar, in essentially the same spot. It comes up after the first one ends. Maybe they put something on the rails to make it grip more?

    Anyone remember Jack White?

Jack White Jack used to come to Southern Oregon State College in the 80's and I saw him there several times. He'd do some exhibitions, run a little tournament, and entertain everyone around. Doing the college tour, I bet he shot more trick shots on crappier equipment than just about anyone. I...

How do you hit and aim the cue ball to make this bank shot?

Bank I hesitate to enter this fray, but here goes. Tons of low left, whack it hard and as full as possible, and without old cloth, dirty balls, and high rails that one probably still won't grip that hard off the second rail. In this vid the angle off the second rail reminds me of the time I set...

    marking a line on cloth

Table marking We mark all of our tables in the pool room with a rack, headstring, and a line from the spot toward the foot rail. I use a fine point sharpie, and redo it occasionally.

    Pool hall tunes

Music That's a great list. I'd add Boston's 'Rock and roll band', and George Thoroughgood's 'Move over little dog, there's a big ol dog movin' in':)

How tight is three and a quarter inch pockets?

Diamond pockets You should measure them yourself just to see. We have a 7 foot Smart Table that just over 4", and Professionals that are 4.5+". If it came from Diamond the way it is, I'd bet a dollar against a pig turd that it isn't 3.25".

    Which location would you pick?

New room Actually, it looks like $2500 for the extra 2000 feet (9000 vs 6500). It all depends on the area, population, demographics, etc., but $9000 a month for rent seems like a really big nut to crack every month.

    Rags Rack'em Pool Room

Raggs Is that the 14.1 tournament or 9-ball? They used to have a great 14.1 tournament that drew the likes of Bobby Hunter and other champions. Many of our players have gone down to that one. Eureka is a nice town, and it's a nice room. It seems like the straight pool tournament was later...

Which pool game requires the best cue ball control?

Control One pocket, hands down. Many times in each game less than an inch determines whether a shot is perfect, average, or a complete sell out.

    cleaning shaft

Damp cloth I've used only a damp cloth and nothing else on the same South West shaft for many years with no problems. I use a half dry and half slightly damp cloth every time I play to keep my hands and cue clean so it never gets really dirty. I wipe the cue frequently with the damp end and...

    Bar tables!

Keys If the previous owners don't have the keys, the cheapest way is to drill them and replace the locks. Some of them you might be able to get at from the inside and take them apart. Locks are cheaper than Locksmiths:)

    Slightly rounded cushions

Rounded cushions A perfectly covered table by a top mechanic would have corner pockets that are tight, and sharp (not rounded). Alas, reality is that most tables are something less than perfect, and a bit rounded. A ball banked into the point of the corner can be made to go cross corner by...

Movie There shouldn't even have been a Poolhall junkies 1, IMO.

Slow play during league (14.1) nights

Slow play Slow play seems to always be an issue we deal with in our 14.1 league. It's a reason some people don't play and I don't blame them. Our lower rated players go to 75, the others 125. We've had matches to 125 last over 5 hours, which is a joke. One small thing we do which seems to help...

    Ring Games

Ring games Not sure about the GSBT rules, but often you can make a shooter shoot again only if he doesn't make a legal hit. I think a 'tournament' of some kind with the ring game format would be very popular. Some of the most incredible things you'll ever see in pool come when a great player...

    Possibly Rare Raschig baalls

Raschig Nope. Those are Raschigs for sure. I've had several sets like the ones in the promo picture, without the black rings, and still have one. The colors and design are different from centennials, but look just like the ones in the pic, except for the rings. They were great balls we had in...

    Cushion Restore?

Cushion restore? I've been waiting to see what answers have come to this thread to see if anyone has done this, and had good results. For my money, you can't make old new again, (except for lasik:)) and the rubber should be replaced. Although after seeing the amazing Gold Crown work in these...
