    Treadway cues

I had Richard make me an ebony 4-pt in 1978 and it played lights out. In 1981, I was living in the Philippines and playing pool everyday so I had him make me another cue, a Merry Widow. There was a young Air Force guy from Texas that was in awe of Richard Black, another Texan, and he kept...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

The guy in the black t-shirt leaning against the table is Kimo who works (or did) at Hawaiian Brian's. I have known him and played pool with him for many years. A couple of the other faces are familiar but I don't know their names. The pool room is not Hawaiian Brian's.

straightline: "Can you provide the logic behind this?"

I am sure he knew how, but that isn't what he was into. Teaching someone takes time and most people aren't going to give you a large portion of their time for nothing.

The Shot: One decision determines everything else...

By the time I was at the level where I said this I had already hit a million balls. I already had the fundamentals. Part of the "seeing" was ensuring all the "basic" stuff was covered before I shot.

The Shot: One decision determines everything else...

I used to say "if I can SEE the shot, I can make it". When I said "see", that meant conceptualizing all of the individual parts of the process in my mind and getting feedback from my mind and body that all systems were "go" to do what I was attempting to do. When people get up and down...

What is the reason behind your collection?

My "original" cues are cues that I had made or bought with customized specs that I used for decades and never strayed from. Over the years, I have had cues made just for the hell of it to test them out and I have kept some and sold others. I also have bought cues second-hand that I have tried...

Going towards CF break shaft/cue, my options

Mine was an ebony 4-point with four veneers. It looked exactly like a Balabushka. I had him make me another cue in 1981. It was a Merry Widow with a black leather wrap. I don't have either of them now. I wish I could find the first one and get it back. I sold it to a young Air Force guy in...

The Shot: One decision determines everything else...

When I break a rack of 9-ball, I analyze the entire table before I shoot the first ball. At the beginning, I look to see where the 9-ball will go from its current position and where the ball before the 9 is and how I will get from that ball to the 9. Then I map everything backwards. If there...

Going towards CF break shaft/cue, my options

That is an old Richard Black. I had him make me one in 1978. I broke with that cue thousands of times and never had a problem.

How Important Is it to Own/Use a Break Cue

People who are APA 2s and 3s buy expensive break cues. They can't even control a playing cue yet, but they think they need a break cue to shoot maybe two breaks a night with and they still haven't mastered hitting the head ball squarely. Go figure.
