Which is the best set of pool balls?

Just a word of warning to the wise. The IPT balls, the numbers and symbols are SLIGHTLY raised on the balls' surface. If you run your thumb over it, you can tell. I dunno if this affects plays much, if at all, just an observation with the old sets from when the IPT came by me.

    My tip(s) won't stay on my J/B

Sounds about right. The guy doing your tips might want to invest in an epoxy adhesive. Either that or he's not properly preparing the two surfaces for gluing. Phenolic and resin are a tad bit different than leather.

    Bobby Hunter cue

Haha, I remember seeing this cue before you got it! Bobby brought it to the pool room one night, along with a few other recent creations. He went into detail about working with silver as an inlay material. Amazing cue, for sure!

Onepocket, how can you watch it?

I like watching one-pocket because I think it's the most interactive game to watch. The layouts and the shot possibilities are really numerous, so as a lesser player, I decide what I would do in that position, watch how they play it, then try to reason out why their shot might've been better or...

    Where is Nick Varner

I just saw him maybe a week ago, he was through my area with his cases and folders of cues. I think the best thing I've heard him say goes like this: -after running a few racks of 9 ball in practice, friend of mine says...- "Hey Nick, looks like you're knocking off the rust." "Yeah, but even...

Movie easter egg FOUND! (Pool related)

I was at a loss for a good movie to watch tonight, so I pulled out an anime I hadn't seen in a while: Cowboy Bebop the Movie. Not too far in, a bunch of names get listed on a video screen. Take a good look at the entire list. Recognize anyone? Really, you can't make this up! I guess...

How do you repair a laminated shaft?

Say you've got a laminated/composite cue shaft that requires some work, some dings and dents, nothing too extreme. I've got just this exact situation, with my Universal shaft. My question is, how do I go about repairing it? I've looked as well as I could have to find warranty information...

Looks like you're a short shot up 90/94 to Chris' Billiards on Milwaukee Ave. I believe it'll be one of the most highly recommended halls for you to visit.

    My Revelation in Aiming

Well, I'll call it a half-revelation. I didn't exactly discover something completely new to me, but I did manage to realize what I do that makes the consistency happen. I was over at Red Shoes last night for practice. I was determined to figure out what's gotten my game into its current...

    No Power on the break

If your concern is generating power without using too much of your body, the best advice I could offer is practice breaking the rack with a wrist snap. On a normal stroke, your wrist and hand tend to be in line with your forearm while coming back and following through. To snap your wrist on a...

    Jump/Break cues

I think I'll be the first to say that J&J makes the best J/B for the money. If you can think beyond the price for a good piece of equipment, you'll find it's a good performer. That being said, on the higher end, Kevin Varney, Andy Gilbert, and Rick Howard are known to make great J/B cues. Not...

    About the break...

If you're still having problems controlling the cue ball on the break, I'd take your break speed down a notch. What I do when I'm having trouble any one night: I take my break down to only forearm movement. I don't throw my body into it, I don't jump up. My break is just a firm stroke with a...

Small ding in my playing shaft.

If I may put a small word of warning along with the method, the rubber band may or may not stay on. I first tried this with a rubber band around the tin foil, and it eventually snapped and flew to the wall, giving myself and my dog a bit of a scare. :p
