    WTB cuemaker wanted

Samsara may be up to the job. They use similar techniques on a lot of their cues.

    Break Cue

    1. Yes, I find that they produce more QB speed for the effort, and doing so gives longer life to my soft playing tips. 2. Sure, I don't think it takes away from any aspect of the game. 3. Mine is, but I hardly use the jump portion outside of practice. I prefer to play billiards with kicking...

How much difference does a balance point make?

Someone brought up weight distribution in another thread and i find this to be just as important. If you have a heavy weight bolt and a heavy joint the feel will be completely different than an evenly balanced cue. I personally prefer a well balanced cue with a slightly rear balance point...

    Regarding billiards as a spectacle

Thought you might be trying to get all Guy Debord on us up on here. I'll see your good old fashioned american optimism and raise you a Foucault.

Controlled easy break or slam the balls?

The 70% more than makes up the difference in this scenario. I think it would be better to have control of the table more after the break and look for good safety opportunities when necessary. Also, a 30% chance of making a ball with cue ball control is roughly a 70% chance of leaving the QB...

Controlled easy break or slam the balls?

Interesting question but what's the comparison? Would it be 70% vs 50% with cueball control? Given the chances of scratching or being left with no shot, I think I'd stick with 50% plus control.

The switch from "aiming" to "feeling" on longer shots.

I'm sure everyone here has a different perspective on what they see when they go to a pool table and what feel means to them. I don;t think I could be accurate without always looking at the contact point and judging how to hit it with the cue ball. I believe the more refined you can make your...

    Homemade cues

I am severely intrigued. Do you know what kind of planes they use or anything about the technique? I've often toyed around with the idea of building a cue with only hand tools, and using some Japanese style joinery just for fun.

Billiard Architect: Finding the impossible shot

I understand what he's trying to do now that I looked at the tutorial for his app. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMuuWSHWWe4 You place the phone over the object ball, input the distance to the QB, point the "cursor" back to the center of the cue ball, then get the angle/overlap from the...

What is the best cue for the money

You might get more responses in the wanted/for sale section. There are a lot of good cues out there, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding one. Pechauers are solid and well regarded, and I have a very fancy one for sell like this...

Billiard Architect: Finding the impossible shot

April fools day seems a little far off for this video. But, with any half ball hit, as the QB travels towards the object ball it will come within four inches, suddenly the spheres will get in the way of one another and make it impossible. Forget my first statement, this actually explains a lot.

    DawgFather Beaker.

I have no experience with that cue. I've heard though that the J&J break cues were a really great bargain buy. http://www.jjcue.com/jjcue-jumpbkcue.htm

    Finish Question

I concur wholeheartedly about getting a longer cue. My wingspan is 6'2", and I cannot tell the difference it makes for me to play with a 60" cue.

I eat a bunch of peanuts, cashews, almonds, whatever; it just keeps me going steady. If I ate a big plate of pasta I'd be done before I even started.
