May be some truth to this

Or another way of putting it is the pros simply don't miss. If one believes there's no talent to that, then maybe I can practice dunking until I can dunk like Lebron James. The thing is, part of being gifted, is that the road to brilliance is attainable. Practice refines and hones that talent...

Why don't cuemakers do this? More to the point why don't we let them?

More people buy knives than cues....LOTS MORE. Cue selling/making speaks to a very very small market

Is there a time clock at the 14.1 ?

To fans of 14.1, they don't mind.

In which game will "the cream rise to the top" most decidedly?

The consensus is that 1p allows a player to hide his speed. It's not exactly an answer to your question however.

In which game will "the cream rise to the top" most decidedly?

I think maybe you have to watch top level 14.1. Like try Mizerak, Varner, Hopkins, West. DON'T WATCH 9ball players play 14.1 and equally important, don't just count the runs. 14.1 is unique in pool because there are many divergent opinions on what is great 14.1. Some go by "# of balls run"...

In which game will "the cream rise to the top" most decidedly?

I have never seen a poor pocketer with good ball control. I have seen good pocketers with cb control not equal to their ability to pocket, but there is always some sort of understanding of the cue ball. Furthermore, an average pocketer spends most of his energy dealing with the execution of...

The Biggest Question Having a Custom Cue Built........is? The cuemaker's integrity.

In which game will "the cream rise to the top" most decidedly?

1pocket doesn't test the one thing pool is all about....pocketing. No can pocket, no can play. 14.1 does all that 1pocket does in spades AND you have to run balls. Also, 3c players understand and can control the cb better than pool players...so maybe 14.1 and 3c.

In which game will "the cream rise to the top" most decidedly?

14.1. 9balls entry point is too low.

    Do cue racks warp cues?

Yes. But weather notwithstanding, the way to keep a cue from warping is to have it supported ON ALL SIDES. That means a case with individual SNUG tubes, or laying the cue flat on a soft bedding which will support the length of the cue(not a hard bedding or table because the shaft taper is...

    cue tip pad

Questions 1...Did you prepare both surfaces before gluing. 2...Did you put the glue on a BARE tip bottom. Glue on a fresh leather tip gets absorbed quickly into the leather. You have to seal the leather and then glue it to the ferrule.

    cue tip pad

You won't tell the difference. A pro might though. The Moori is a layered tip and you would be merely adding yet another layer. It is redundant and unnecessary. Their cautionary use is for ivory ferrules but as far as feel goes, you won't tell the diff.

    Different aim for different tables?

Am amgle is an angle is an angle. you could be playing on the football field and a 10degree cut to the pocket will always be 10 degrees....that's math:) You might be talking about extraneous factors that affect the balls and the roll, but not table dimension

Playability of Macassar Ebony vs Gaboon ebony for playing cues.

I think most "solid" ebony is cored and replaced with maple. Solid ebony has a ping sound that many people don't like.

when was the last time you missed a Ball In Hand shot?

I recall seeing a woman in a WPBA event miscuing ball-in-hand on the 9. In the annals of pool, that may be the biggest choke in history. This was something like 20yrs ago.

Playability: Production Cues vs Custom Cues

You hold either the same way,,,you stroke either the same way, they are both "playable". I would not depend on anyone's opinion if I were you.

Playability of Macassar Ebony vs Gaboon ebony for playing cues.

Try African Blackwood. It is dark dark charcoal-ish, almost black but not, and it has a unique fine detailing. Top quality stuff is used in musical instruments like oboes and such because of it's tonal qualities. I have always been of the belief that you cannot go wrong with such properties...

What vintage cuemakers used half inch solid black collars?

    Egregious, Blatant Disrespect

There's no "disrespect here". Pool has never earned the right, and it sits there in limbo because the general public couldn't care less.
