Manning Cues - NEW JACOBY SHAFT

I really like my Jacoby Hybrid. Surprised they are discontinuing it and not just adding the new one. 140 pieces....at what point does the shaft become more glue than wood? Hopefully when this is released the price of current stock hybrids will go down :)

Schmelke fails to live up to the hype

Can I ask who you spoke to when you called?

    Jam up apparel

I think it's a bit lighter than the Gildan shirts. I'm having a hard time explaining it but it's almost more of a sports type material. I was never cold sitting in the room though I heard others mention being cold, but I also never broke a sweat which for me is unusual. I guess for me they felt...

    Jam up apparel

Sorry I didn't post sooner. The 3 shirts I ordered are awesome. I'm a big guy and it's hard to find shirts that I like but these look and fit great!. The material feels nice and doesn't bind up when I'm shooting pool. I was in a 3 day tournament last weekend and couldn't be happier. It's like...

    45 degrees

A league I used to shoot in had the 45 rule in place and more or less if the cue was at ~45° anything goes. In general it worked well, but there was a few guys who would take advantage of it and force the cue ball around to break open shots etc.. What I don't understand is that the league I...

    Long cue question

I'm no expert, but I think most of it is just physics. It's harder to change the path of a heavy object in motion than a light one. Not only adding weight, but getting the weight moved further from the "center of gravity" will tend to keep in inline. The increased length can help in a number of...

Who's your favorite pro to watch that helps your game?

There is a 2006 IPT match between Corey Deuel and Ray Martin that I always like to watch before a tournament just to remind me of how little cue ball movement is needed to run out a table.Mostly because I often try to do too much with the cue ball and hit too hard. I always enjoy watching Corey...

SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

That may be true. Also, the Patriots don't have to cheat to win a football game. Chad Knaus and JJ don't have to cheat to win NASCAR races. Sosa and Bonds likely didn't need the 'roids to hit a home run. etc. etc.

SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

Don't know what he is saying, but I'm saying that is the moment when I was SO hoping Shane would have smashed that rack with a little extra top spin on the cue ball.

SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

What a mess.....lol. I have so many mixed feeling on all this it's hard not to contradict myself. I think Justin is correct in his assessment. And Bob is correct in his assessment of Justin's assessment... But seriously, I feel like 9 ball is a great game, but I think the talent...

Did Jimmy White played 9-ball with a snooker cue?

I sometimes feel like I struggle going from my normal 12.5mm tip to a buddies 13mm when we are shooting (I have a 63" cue and sometimes have to borrow if there is a wall or something in the way). I couldn't imagine going from a 9.5-10 mm tip to a 11.75-13mm pool cue. Then again, I don't play at...

Rule question: Using only my shaft

Assuming it was a issue with some immovable object I doubt anybody would take issue with it, but technically it's not legal. One of the bars I shoot at has a Big Buck Hunter Game that is sometimes in the way and I have seen guys use just the shaft, but that's just league play.

    Opinions on "forced win" rule.

Sorry, I didn't read you initial post close enough. I see you point about him not necessarily conceding the game. technically it is different than either throwing the ball in the pocket or grabbing the balls to rack the next game.

    Opinions on "forced win" rule.

Normally yes, but when the rules were read to the players before the event it was declared that conceding a game results in the loss of that rack, plus the next. I have seen that in a couple of tournaments now I believe mostly to protect the pay per view crowd from feeling like they didn't get...

    Opinions on "forced win" rule.

I greatly admire the guy who insisted they play it out, and have done similar things myself when a opponent is late to a match, but at this level of play the rules should be strictly enforced by the tournament director. While in a sense it would have backfired in this scenario, the purpose of...

    Anyone here drive a motorcycle?

I normally just go across the back, but I don't care for the weight on the bumpy MN roads. A friend of mine built a small "box" that he bolted on where the rear foot peg used to be. It's about 2" tall and the bottom of his case fits in it. he then leans it back and uses a small bungee to tie...

    Tournament

I think you are referring the The Break Room in Duluth. I believe Corey was there last year for Dennis Hatch's Tournament. He also played at CR's in Coon Rapids, MN with SVB and Bergman last summer.

    Schmelke Cues..... Again

Part of the reason I went there is because I dropped off a Jacoby Hybrid partial shaft I bought that I wanted to put on my Ebony Schmelke...I about fell over when they said it would only cost $35 to have it tapped for my 3/8"-10 pin and a black collar installed and finished out to match my cue...
