    Try out this game

Don't think so. Is the same as in eight ball, 9 ball, 14.1, etc. Must either make a ball or drive one to a rail after legal contact to avoid a foul. It doesn't give you another shot. I have another question. If first ball on each inning is a solid, what happens if there are no solids left on...

    Women's Amway Cup Links?

Pan was playing Chen Simeng, one of the 2-3 top Chinese players who won 9 ball WC a couple years ago.

    Amway 2013

Zhou Dou Dou is a strong player but still young and only got into the Amway as a qualifier. About a year ago, I played regularly in the room in Shanghai where she practiced against the Taiwan male pros. Nice young lady but still needs to go a ways to be in the top tier of Chinese lady players...

Efren uncorks a HUGE stroke -- bends the cue ball! (36-second clip)

Agree. You can see as he is setting up the shot that he is putting extreme right English on the CB. Not sure why he chose to do it that way instead of coming straight back up to the middle of the table, but appears to me to have been what he intended.

    Taiwanese Women's tour championship

You sure they are all really SW? There are lot of Taiwanese cue companies making cues that look like SW and many used by the pros there. I have a Kaofa cue that many in Asia think is a SW until I show them the logo.

Should pool be fun or work?

Agree that work can and should be fun. I am retired now but during my 40+ years of working, I never had a job I did not enjoy and look forward to every day, and I worked hard.

    Ko Pin-Yi is a Beast

If tournament was in Taiwan, I doubt seriously if prize was paid in renminbi(CNY). Most likely 300,000 Taiwan dollars = ~$11000 US

    What would you do here

Agree. The carom is not on and the corner of the side pocket makes it tough. The cross side kick on the 8 is difficult and would have to be perfect with spin to make the 8. In fact, if you nudge the 10 near the 8, the kick on the 8 would be blocked from going in.

    Is Chalk Complimentary?

It is complimentary for use in that room not free to take home. It is not very expensive so the room won't really get upset about one cube, but if everyone who came to play took the chalk away, it would get to be a problem.

A fun practice game I learned yesterday

This game is a favorite after hours money game between pros in Taiwan and China with payment made after all three shots are completed. I have never played myself but have seen three people accomplish the three shots four times consecutively. Amazing cue control. In China, the game is called...

Yu Ram's regular coach is not Charlie Williams. She has a regular Korean coach who travels with her and was with her in Shanghai for the recent China Open. I do not know his name but I have had dinner with them in China several times and it is definitely not Charlie. She has had intermittent...

    China open now,

I agree. I was just explaining what happened. If there had been a mainland China player in the final, might have been a different decision but who knows.

    China open now,

They are showing the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Masters Snooker tournament which starts tomorrow. ALL of the top snooker players in the world are there and, as popular as pool is in China, as a spectator sport snooker is much more popular. Pool is relatively new in China and snooker has...
