I think part of the issue is that cues are made out of an unstable material (wood) subject to a lot of environmental effects which over time can shift in various ways......and no matter how good the cuemaker is I don't think this can be fully overcome.

No it's not. It's about his actions. Earl the pool player isn't Earl the man. So Earl has some personality flaws at/around the pool table - is that a reason to publicly tear him down as a person? No.

One more time - there's a huge difference between legitimate criticism and tearing down Earl as a person. Is that really too complicated for you to understand?

It's obvious that the match this weekend and the aftermath being discussed now is heat of the moment. And what makes you or anybody else except those intimately involved think they know what he deserves or even better yet, why they think they're in any position to try and give him that?

I think all of this very public talk about some of the most personal aspects of Earl's life is unseemly and in my opinion has crossed the line. Is it really necessary? Discretion in this case is certainly the better part of valor.
