    Japan A Z B members

The answer to your question is a yes and no, but I'd like to go into a little detail. Japan HAS in the past been guilty of downplaying major disasters be they natural disasters, the failure of Nomura Shoken (trading house) in the mid 90's, the Tokai Mura incident, and as recently as Toyota...

    Japan A Z B members

I was finally able to contact with all family and friends by Sunday. Everybody is pretty shook up, but in good health. I was within 3 miles of the Tokai Mura accident back in 99 (I think), and many of the jobs I worked on where within 5-10 miles of both the Fukushima and Ibaraki plants. Many...

    Custom cue observation

"You can make the drive to Wal-Mart in a '76 Nova, or make the same trip in a brand new BMW. Both rides will get you from point A to point B. But in the BMW you're most likely gonna look better, and as a result it might be a little more fun." dave

    Advice on pool

Quit trying to get so damn perfect on every shot. Take the longer, yet correct side shot rathar than closer, easier, but on the wrong side shape. Side pockets are only there to save you for when you've blown position. dave

    Japan!

You wonder how a semi production cue can demand such a price, but all you have to do is see how much the Mezz Exceed line, or the Adam Musashi line sells for over there. I don't know how long you've been in Japan, but I'm sure you've seen it first hand at your local pool room (Utsunomia Bagus...

    Japan!

Jun Shimizu is the primary owner and builder for KeithAndy cues. He started out as a cue peddler by visiting the US and all the cue shows. Buying relatively unknown (in Japan) cue makers cues and selling them in Japan. He had his favorites..............primarily Andy Gilbert and Keith Josey...

Shot Question: Cue on rail,,, OB downtable.

Don't know why, and I'm pretty sure it may be just something that works for me, but when I'm on the short rail like that with a pretty long nearly straight in shot, what little I learned playing snooker helps for me. This is the only time I ever use a pause in my backstroke, and in this case...

A shot you don't see very often, the kill shot

Not to hijack or change the subject totally here, but at 17:53 watch as Sigel uses the rake. Notice that he uses the rake as a righty, but plays lefty. I've never noticed that before. dave

    Definition of "force follow"

To me, this is a good example of what I've always considered force follow. Simply put, I've always thought force follow was a follow shot that first drifts further along the tangent than normally, before the follow takes. This can be done by either striking the CB a little harder to widen the...

What's the greatest shot you've ever seen?

cue with a "coors like" logo?

I'm not 100% sure, but Colorado Cues had a mountain image logo on their butts. I don't remember wether or not they had any other markings though. Chris Byrne on the forums would know more about the Colorado Cues possibility. Posting pics would help. dave

    Charlies in Northglenn,Co

I spoke to XXXXX, the new sole owner, or possibly majority partner. It's those very details that are being worked out as we speak. But he sounded very confident that Charlies will be open soon. He even mentioned Melissas' 15 rack league as a "GO" to be able to begin on time without delay...

Do cue values go up on Pros that use them?

I think it depends entirely on who the player is, what particular event(s) the cue was used in, and what (if any) titles were won with the cue. dave

    Denver Pool Halls Closing

I braved cold and ice to get to Hanks yesterday only to find out that only 4 had signed up to play in the tournament. They ended up not having one. Next week I guess? Do they do a Thursday night tournament too? dave

    Denver Pool Halls Closing

Sounds fun to me. Still debating on wether or not I brave the weather to make it down for the tournament today. Thinking one of two things.........................the weather will thin out the field, so the chances increase but with a poor payout. Or...................only the better players...

What Made Your Game Go From Good to Great?

In replying to this thread, by no means am I making any claim that I'm a 'great' player. But after several years of playing on a plateau with little to no noticeable improvement, two things I did that really bumped my game up have always stuck with me. The first one was disciplining myself to...

    Denver Pool Halls Closing

Have you ever been there? I think I saw six bar boxes from outside the window as I quickly returned to my car after looking inside. I would imagine that they were biting off more than they can chew by having many more players than they could handle. I'm pretty happy with Hanks right now...
