I just got Melissa Littles e-mail newsletter regarding her 15 Rack league that was scheduled to be at Charlies at the end of January. She is taking registrations for it as she says the owner is very serious about reopening.
Anybody else heard about a possible reopening?

I have not heard anything about Charlie's but then I an out of the loop. I have heard that Billiards ink may reopen under different management.
So maybe I am in the loop:rolleyes:.

Between the name changes and closing and reopening can make us all a little"Loopy"
And yes I have heard that Billiards Ink is trying to reopen if they can get a liquor license under someones name. And I heard that from a former employee.

Charlies should reopen soon
They're working out the details, I spoke with one of the owners today.

Just wondering

Are all the tables still in place in both places? Not for sale?

Meantime, us Denver AZers should get together for some socializing on our home tables. I'm gonna start a thread soon.

I spoke to XXXXX, the new sole owner, or possibly majority partner. It's those very details that are being worked out as we speak. But he sounded very confident that Charlies will be open soon. He even mentioned Melissas' 15 rack league as a "GO" to be able to begin on time without delay.
Loving the hell out of Hanks however, but the close drive to Charlies (or whatever) will be a welcome return.

Hanks is a decent room and you can not beat playing from 10 AM to 4 PM for $6.00 and the food is great. But it gets a little rough after dark Differant crowd and your car is not real safe.Even though it is 10 minutes from my house I would much rather drive 30 minutes to Charlies. But we will see what type of room new management makes out of the "new" Charlies for the second time.

So is XXXXX going to be a good owner? It's hard to fathom how that location cannot stay open for an extended period of time except for shoddy management. I'm not there often, but the times I have been it's been crowded. And it sounded like league nights were fairly packed.

Maybe rent is high? It's not like the strip mall that it is located in is prime real estate, but all it takes is a greedy landlord (i.e. Shakespeare's).

While this day and age can be rough for a pool room owner, there's no reason that a decent-sized pool room in a major metropolitan area can't stay open with a good manager/owner. I wouldn't say the owners of the Bit of Billiards (Longmont) and Match-Ups (Fort Collins) are raking in the bucks, but both of those places have been stable for years in a smaller population base.
