Question about Dudley tips / Milk Duds

Not all are created equal It's my understanding that when you buy a box of Elkmasters, there are always 'duds' that need to be thrown out. Even the making of a milk dud process won't correct an already 'dud' tip. So, the price per tip goes up a little when you consider the fact that before...

    need some help

To me, taking care of your own shafts when it comes to small dings like that, and even changing or shaping your own tips is just as vital as a grown man knowing how to tie his own necktie. dave

    9 ball rant

I've always been taught, and I still make myself belive that when an opponent shits a ball in, by default, it can be traced to my mistake in letting him back at the table, AND................giving him the chance to take a shitter. This is an aspect of 9 ball that doesn't happen enough with...

Band Aids for Shafts Ever see people put a piece of tissue or toilet paper on a shaving cut? Same thing. Take a paper towel and tear off small pieces, soak the pieces in water and stick it onto the ding. Repeat this process several times for stubborn dings. Another thing I've done with...

Quantifying Hit and Feel by tone, pitch or harmonics of the cue

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Black Boar intonates their shafts and matches them with butts. I'm not sure what a 'match' would be, but being a musician formerly, I've often wondered that if you took a shaft that resonates a standard 440 A, and matched it with a butt that resonates...

Scratch on break - ball in hand - not in kitchen

I agree. Although, I'm not gonna sit here and say I get out all the time when I get ball in hand, game of 8 and 9 ball are both games based on RUNNING OUT. And even though it doesn't happen all the time, I feel that a foul, or a scratch on the break should for all real purpose result in loss...

    Most Under Rated Cue Maker

I hit with about 6 Pete Tonkin cues that a dealer friend of mine had in Japan, and I was blown away with construction, playability, and the nice hit they all had. Very suprised to see how affordable his cues are today. Also, Keith Josey and Andy Gilbert aren't exactly under the radar cue makers...

    Denver open

I went two and out as well. Paid my $45 to draw Mecheam and then ATM on the back side. What luck huh! Had high expectations as I've been playing really well lately......................but Bill and ATM...............is asking a little too much right now! But looking on the bright side of...

    Denver open

I was very impressed with the level of play, the conditions of the tables, the food, the stream was clear enough that you could tell the balls apart, and most of all...................I think Will did an outstanding job running the show. I don't know if he's ever done a tournament before, but...

Possible cheating AzB'er at Denver Open last night?

I'm starting to get the idea maybe. Bill thought Tommy made a bad hit in the first rack...................Tommy plays the "no ref, call goes to shooter" card, so then bill plays the same card right back with the beads? Two wongs don't make a white? dave

Possible cheating AzB'er at Denver Open last night?

I didn't see what happened, but is everybody sure this is not a case of Bill forgetting to move one bead over after winning a rack, and then after winning another rack..................moving two over to account for the first possibly forgotton one? The reason I ask, is that I lost a very tough...

    Denver

I particularly don't care for the "Koop" from a players point of view simply because unless you get Melissas table, you could get stuck on a table with serious pillar, table, and chair obstacles. However, from a kids point of view, Melissa is probably a world leader when it comes to her efforts...

    Glove Or Powder

Powder pisses me off! Mostly because generally people that use it, don't use if sparingly and it ends up on the rails, the cloth, the balls, and then me. If you can use powder and keep it to yourself, I think it's a great option. Just be considerate when using. dave
