And the fact that you can attract and fit more spectators onto a golf course. And you can attract TV money for golf. And the golf scene is the result of 75 years of building on a consistent basis, rather than one after another get rich quick scheme by scammers. And it not only has more...

Senior center by me has three diamond tables, open all day for free

Ah, the good old days when I lived in Greeley, CO and the Senior Center had one, and later a second, beautiful 5x10 heated 3C tables. Now there isn't a 3C table within an hour of me, in AZ. :( But it's where the grandkid is.(y)

FOUL Called on SVB at the UK OPEN

I've seen, on several occasions, where a ref called something no point but the opponent agreed with the shooter that it was a good point, and the point was given. It happened in a Blomdahl match, recently. That's why when this came up before I said I was a little disappointed with Dani for not...

    Verhoeven table for sale 3500

I was told the same thing by a Dutch guy I met when I went to see the World Championship in Bordeaux in 2016.

    Rules.....

In 3C, if the cue ball is frozen to an object ball your options are to shoot completely away from the frozen object ball or have the 2 balls spotted in a specified way. Any shot towards the frozen ball is deemed a foul and the players inning ends. It's interesting how pool, billiards, and...

Is it considered bad form to take a shot just to screw over your opponent?

OK, but I have no idea what this has to do with my post.

Is it considered bad form to take a shot just to screw over your opponent?

Intentional fouls are pretty routine in 14.1, no? I believe that safeties are not allowed in 3C, but there is no penalty.

Maybe this is one question that has never been asked.

If I can only enjoy a game by betting, I don't like the game well enough to waste my time playing.

    $480,000 USD table

This is the part I found hilarious: They can handcraft it for me in a week (that sounds completely plausible), and shipping to US costs $220. For a $480,000 table. They are going to entrust a $480,000 table to a $220 overseas shipper. I have this vision in my head of the shippers being the...

Then vs. Now (One More Thread)

I dunno. In that world the game was huge, drawing audiences in the thousands, and featuring on the front pages of newspaper sports pages. I think that there were tons of excellent players, drawn by the size of the game, but you are almost right about one thing. You said there were just a...

3-cushion, the new leader of the pack?

The fact is that he isn't even the best in the world now, let alone all time. There is some serious recency bias.

3-cushion, the new leader of the pack?

The equipment changes but the cream rises to the top. And formats changing has an effect as well. When Ceulemans was winning most of his 21 world titles, if I recall Bert's book correctly, it was a round robin and games were 60 pts. He could have a bad game or two and still win handily...

3-cushion, the new leader of the pack?

I love how the kid plays, but best ever seems premature, considering that he has one World Cup and no World Championships whereas Blomdahl has many of both. But he is 24 and already had to sacrifice a year or two to compulsory military service. He has many years ahead of him and may turn out...

World Cup - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - Sun., Dec. 4 - Sat., Dec. 10, 2022

I only got to see the highlight excerpt of the final match but it was, as our British friends would say, a cracker. The Korean kid, 24-year old Myung Woo Cho, was fantastic, beating Dani 50-45 in 17 innings. And it wasn't just his level of play, it was that he withstood the pressure of Dani's...
