This is a who's who of US One Pocket players and if you like one pocket, don't miss this one today and tomorrow.
I watched a couple of matches on Big Truck's pay per view last night and if you missed it, you are missing some great one pocket with 16 top players.
The first match I watched was...
Fairly close to the old one in a stand alone bldg from what I hear. It is on the other side of Powell just over the bridge and easier to get to.
People I talked to at a tournament in Vacaville yesterday said the room looks great with another Diamond table added and all the old Oldhausen's...
In the early sixties I was a route salesman for a saw company and hit the bowling alleys that had golf games in the pool rooms and there were quite a few.
I beat a guy at Friendly Hills Bowl in La Habra and he said " you play good, but don't go to Gage Bowl and play Chico. I was there at 4pm...
Jack
Talked to him a week or so ago and he was waiting for parts for his new Diamond table. He is still recovering but should be getting back into it soon.
Drinking
In 2011 I finished 7th/8th in the US Open One Pocket Championship. I was 72 years old.
I never drink in tournaments or when I gamble playing pool, but in this tournament things changed. I was still on the winners side on the 2nd day and my 1st match was with Bernie P. from Arizona, a...
The Markulis family owned several pool rooms in Southern Cal and opened Hard Times in Bellflower. They sold Bellflower and opened up Hard Times in Sacramento, which used to be Great American Billiards.
He started his winning streak with the 9 ball at the Chuck Markulis Memorial at Hard Times in February. A $3,000 payday, some of the other players in the tournament were Biado, Appleton, Kiamco, SVB, Deuel, Morris, Saez, Mika and Kang.
If they play on the Diamond in Arizona, I think Scott can win.
The tournament Diamonds with new cloth are too easy for SVB to run balls on. Scott knows that table better than anyone. He has barked at Shane before to come there and it didn't happen.
For the record, I don't think Alex would like...
The pockets at Hard Times, Sacramento are tough, and I was there til 6am when he got it down to 1k stuck, playing for 1k with five tries. I had been playing in he tournament and when we quit, I went home.
He was going to 14 or 15 after starting at 20 and getting stuck. Very tough game to come...
Walter
I think Walter was originally a straight pool and 9 ball player from New York.
He stayed with me for a while in the early 80's in Southern CA before he ended up in Las Vegas.
Very solid player and good to see he still plays well.
Boise
I have not been up there for a while, but there was a nice room on or near Cumberland called Back Street Billiards with Gabriel tables. Pool, snooker and three cushion tables.
They brought Frank in to Hard Times, Bellflower to play liability snooker on the 6 x 12 in the early 90's.
We were playing $50 a point for around a week or so and he made it to the last session and beat the game for around 6k (his backer told me).
This was a fairly amazing feat since it was a...
