I haven't got enough break-power to worry about damaging the cue... But I use a soft to medium tip and breaking misshapes them over time. I have seen a couple of cue balls get broken (by other people) I don't want that kind of stress on my cue.

Had a bud in seventh grade who lived close to the school. As kids do, we would ditch and hang at his house. They had a table, so he showed me the basics about how it worked to "hit HERE to move it THAT way"...... About as sophisticated as it got then. �� Never really played too...

Age is a factor... Lasek several years I ago and it rocks! But get around fifty and the "focus muscles" are, well, fifty years old. I see pretty well without, but have glasses again now. (But really less prescription)
