Slow Players and the Shot Clock at Regional Events

I've personally witnessed one game go on for 45 minutes. Most of it was safety after safety. And I used to "clock" the games before making the shot clock decision. You hope for a game to complete in 10 minutes of less. If they start taking longer than that, I watch the players to see what's...

Slow Players and the Shot Clock at Regional Events

GG, The WPBA uses the shot clock on the semi and finals matches, so why not use it on the second day matches. And as far as players who are intentionally slow to thwart their opponents, this is why you should enforce a shot clock. Players should not be allowed to do that. And unintentionally...

Slow Players and the Shot Clock at Regional Events

Wow GG, I'm surprised this isn't used more often. I always had a stop watch or two in my computer case. Fortunately, I only had to use it a couple times, and you'd be surprised against who. My formula was there had to be (in a race to 7) at least 8 games on the wires within 45 minutes of the...

"Just knock it on Roy! Just a Q - does CW's tournament software place the first bye at slot 2? Another Q - does anyone see what's wrong with that with anyone's software tournament that does that? Barbara [eta - can't spell or convey the thought]

    WPBA Rankings don't look right

    Here's the old points system: 1st - 200 2nd - 160 3rd - 125 4th - 100 5th/6th - 80 7th/8th - 65 9th/12th - 50 13th/16th - 40 17th/24th - 30 25th/48th - 25 49th/64th - 20 I agree with you Mike, if Allison has won 2 of the 4 events, she should absolutely NOT be in 5th place. I do not understand...

    WPBA Rankings don't look right

Mike, Is there anywhere on the WPBA site that lists each players' finishes so that we can reconstruct what their rankings would have been under the old points system> I'm looking, but I'm not finding anything. Barbara

Sarah Ellerby vs Jennifer Chen (How would you rule?)

What has been found out is that Ellerby got a warning. The WPBA has/had instated a: "warning, fine, suspension" ladder of discipline. The WPBA requires written offense violations because anything verbal can be argued as heresay for defense. Barbara

    Dress Code!

And I don't care what the amount of monies added is, I want the room owner to know that the tour takes this sport seriously and not only behaves in a professional manner, but also dresses like a professional. Barbara

    Breaking News from Jacksonville

The tournament director should always communicate to the player when their starting match time will be for the next day. Always. This accomplishes two things: 1) the player did not misread the chart, and 2) the player can't complain that they weren't informed. And yeah, I think a lot of us...

Sarah Ellerby vs Jennifer Chen (How would you rule?)

Johnnyt, I feel that the WPBA won't find this incident "egregious" and will probably fine Sarah a set amount. It would have to be a pretty bad incident to ban a player from an event. And legally, you could be preventing a player from earning quite a few thousand instead of a few whatever...

Sarah Ellerby vs Jennifer Chen (How would you rule?)

sunnyday, There's been a code for that for quite sometime. I do believe that "someone" mentioned there would be a decision at the Player's Meeting. Barbara

    Where to play in Maine

Steve, We stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn last year and it was really nice, but quite pricey as it was right on the waterfront. We've also stayed at the Bar Harbor Grand which is closer to the center of town and was quite reasonable. As for pool halls in the area, I was forbidden from seeking...

    "Added Monies"

Southpaw, I always believed that the RO was deserved greens fees for the table time that we took up. After all, we monopolized his room for two days. If the RO benefited from the customers, so be it! That's great. All more for the RO's pocket. Barbara

    "Added Monies"

Well when I ran a tour, it really didn't matter about whose monies the greens fees were taken from. The monies were added up and the RO was paid greens fees. Bottom line was, I NEVER took any money form the prize fund, and that's what Grady's getting at, TDs taking monies from the prize fund...
