Calculations are cool and all, but in the long run, I'd recommend playing with feel.
I'd bank the shot 3 rails and see which side of the pocket it misses on,
then use that as a reference to adjust either long or short.
My God, I did not realize Boston Shorty was as strong of a 3c player as he was. He has 10, 3c tournament titles.
And by the video, you can tell he is an experienced 3c player. I'm willing to bet he played better 3c than Efren did.

The Great Ray Schuler made this cue and unfortunately, he is no longer with us.

You are probably right about that. I think it's just forcing you to shorten your bridge length.
I have a friend who has to cue and I can tell you that it breaks well. but nothing super incredible.
The Mezz Power Break 2 is a good example of how the butt of a cue changes the break.
They even go into it a little on their website saying,

The “Power Break II”, with the innovative...
I took a 6" weight bolt out of the back of my playing cue and love the weight and the balance of the cue. I found that a forward balance was something I really liked. It works for breaking well and playing well.
Carom cues are usually rear-weighted cues. Not sure why carom or 3c players prefer...
Can't remember where I read this, maybe Predators website.
But I remember it was once said that a 12.4 tip diameter is the most optimal diameter for pocketing balls. while an 11.8 diameter would be more difficult to pocket balls with yet easier to get spin.
Fish2 I would recommend getting a few extensions and trying out different tips and shafts. It's easy to overcomplicate how to break better and you can get all caught up in the equipment labyrinth.
And most of all work on your break technique. There is probably more value in that than your...
I don't think that's true. how would one prove/disprove that?
My preference of my playing cue is because I can DO MORE with it than other cues. Or it takes less effort to do the same thing.
So I prefer my cue because it does what I need to do better.
Same with my break cue.
