    alternate shaft wood, something harder than maple?

    Hard Try seasoned Hemlock. I have worked old barns with it and you need to drill it to put a nail in it. It doesn't split the framing nail just bends.

    Lucasi I have a lucasi and like it. Seems to me to be a very reasonable cue for the money. There are some other sneakies that look good and are well priced on here also. Good luck with your search.
