"Superstroke" Bruce Christopher mentions in his book ("Superstroke": My Winning Secrets) that he would run cold water over his hands to keep them from sweating and needing powder.

Gray chalk best for Tournament Blue Simonis!

I was doing further research on my new cloth project... It was mentioned in another thread that the normal blue chalk shows up as black as it settles on the Simonis tournament blue cloth. So I called Simonis to see if they had a recommended chalk color that showed up the least on tournament...

    Green or Blue Simonis 860

So, I figured, why not just call Simonis? I'm learning at a rapid rate due to the great replies you guys have been taking your valuable time to help me with... I hadn't even thought about 760, which is faster than 860, so I went to the Simonis website to fill in some blanks for me, and that...

    Green or Blue Simonis 860

I appreciate your thoughts about how the blue will look on video, because I will be continuing to record practice and competition videos for YouTube and Google Video sites and for the DVD project. If blue is better for the eyes, then it would seem to be better for video! Thanks.

    Green or Blue Simonis 860

Very interesting about the humidity... I live very close to the ocean and humidity is a big challenge. Are you saying that 760 is faster in a humid environment because of manufacturing differences? Do tell more!! Maybe I should consider 760... do they have it in blue?

    Green or Blue Simonis 860

I thought the same thing! I played for the first time on some blue cloth this past weekend at Shoreline Billiards in Mountain View, CA. I really liked how fast it was playing. Sweet.

    Green or Blue Simonis 860

I need to recover my Gold Crown IV and was thinking maybe I would go with the light blue you see on so many tables nowadays, rather than the traditional green. It seems that the blue would not show the blue chalk marks and the burn marks (from breaking and masse' shots) as much as the green...

HELP - The Great Rack Shootout

Dan... Yes, you can borrow my Delta-13 rack, but it was a birthday present and is custom engraved with "Mikie's Fun House" and the 5-star logo. How about we get Samm Diep to set one free from the factory? She is the marketing director and player rep for Delta-13 (and a real nice person and a...

    losing the passion to play

Pool left me when college ended and I had to start working at a job. That was in 1964, and I worked until 1992, but then got into flying, Frisbee, Ferraris and yoga and then got back into pool in 2004. So that was 40 years of no pool! Since 2004 I've been into pool in a big way, but I doubt...

A Thread for the Non-Pool Gambles

Gambling, for me, always fell into one of two categories: 1. I KNOW I'm going to win. For example, hustling a lower-skilled player. I used to do this in college. It wasn't really gambling, it was Stealing. 2. I DON'T KNOW if I'm going to win. For example, playing some unknown pool...

    Using light reflection for aiming

I guess you could say it's just "feel". If you bank thousands of balls, you develop a feel for all the ways to hit the ball that will NOT go, and the very few ways that the ball WILL go. The video clip was one of my practice sessions where my "feel" was on, or else, like Efren says, "I got...

    Using light reflection for aiming

Here's my system for using lights for banking: I turn the lights on, and then bank the balls into the pocket. Case closed. Check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFmR-0wGjZI It worked 9 out of 10 shots.
