All hail the Gino Ferrari Break Cue!

We had end of last year a 'break-clinic' at Club8 in Amsterdam. Alex Lely spent a couple of hours with us honing our technique for power-breaks. At the same time, we reviewed some 15 or so break or break-jump cues. Everyone got to break with each cue several times and had to then rate each cue...

Niels Feijen wins in Finland, 7-0 over Mika Immonen

from what I understand Mika scratched on all of his breaks and gave a ball in hand in all the other racks...(alternate breaks race to 7). Doesn't really need more than that.... cheers, Kimmo Pricemoney was 5000EUR for the winner and runner up 1700EUR....Calcutta paid something like 4180EUR to...

Youth billiard programs in other countries?

there's also stuff going on in Germany http://www.epbf.com/sportsite/2008/DBU%20JugendTraining%202008.pdf (in german though) I've sent a message to one of the coaches for the Dutch youth-team and perhaps he'll be in contact. and for Finland you might want to contact...

Youth billiard programs in other countries?

In Netherlands there's at least some...and proving to be quite succesfull as well with a few juniors placing well in the Dutch Championships.... I don't know the level of detail they have with the youth-program but the national-team at least has some training-camps together with coaching. You...

    2008 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

I witnessed first hand at the Dutch Bootcamp (training with Alex Lely and Johan Ruijsink) how the real pros play straight. Nick vdBerg was playing against Stephan Cohen (not a slouch himself with PB somewhere just shy of 300) on the last day and missed an annoying cut to the middle pocket...

    Playing against handicap 8-ball

oh don't get me wrong...I am not an expert or anything...I am just interested in different opinions and the reasoning behind them. There was a good case in the book and it made sense to me....if you have another case that would make sense to ignore your opponent, I am more than happy to hear it...

    Playing against handicap 8-ball

I know I run a risk of going off on a tangent here....but couldn't let that pass... Having just finished the "Pleasures of small motions" for the second time (it takes a couple of reads to really grasp everything), I would say that the above given advise is exactly the wrong thing to do (the...

Can some one explain "Cut break" ?

well box or not...if the table is tapped...I'd use cut-break every time....and not only because my 'power-break' isn't all that powerful....you just get so much more control on the cueball AND the 1ball (if it doesn't go to the sidepocket)

Can some one explain "Cut break" ?

I wouldn't call it really a soft hit...rather a firm hit...but by no means a power-shot... and as far as your question goes....if it's tapped table....sure I would count on a cut-break....on normally tapped table a cut-break tends to give you the corner ball 19/20 and 1-ball will either go in...

    Fanon Sluisdom

I can vouch for that. Fanon was definitely one of the 'good guys'. Always ready with a joke, greet you with a smile, yet be tough and concentrated opponent at the table. You might not now, but Fanon was already involved in a bad accident a year or two ago if I remember right. He was near losing...

What's your thing, other than pool?

My 2 kids..... Daughter of 3y9m and son of 1y7m. Neither of which can reach a pooltable....yet! Although I have to say....that with the introduction of them....it's the pool that has become 'the other thing'...as it should be really! cheers, Kimmo
