6-Ball, innovative, good for the game! Tonite!

I though the format was fun.. lots of pressure with the lights and camera and knowing a miss and you could be done for the night. Too bad I mis-cued in the Finals against Pat... I had him right where I wanted him :)

World Straight Pool Updates from New Jersey

Hey Bud - anyone "crossing the bridge"? (inside joke).. Oh wait, this isn't 9-ball. Sounds like you're having a blast, I should've taken the day off and came with you.

Slow Players and the Shot Clock at Regional Events

Gail ? I am in favor of the new rule, especially if everyone is aware ahead of time. You can?t allow one or two player so slow down the tournament. It?s unfortunate that a player can purposely slow down in order to get the match put on the clock (if that was the case). In my situation once we...

Slow Players and the Shot Clock at Regional Events

sharked by slow play and clock I was playing someone several levels above me during this tourn. and was up 6-2 in race to 9. My opponent started slowing down big-time when the score was 2-0 and 3-1 in my favor. I understand the need for a shot clock in order to keep a large tourn. moving. We...

Tri-State Open at Amsterdam Billiards NYC this weekend

I had the good fortune to play Tony on day two of this tournament (11:30 this morning). Tony whooped me 9-2, leaving me feeling pretty good with the 9th-12th finish. Tony was playing Mika as I headed out for my Holiday BBQ. I’d like to point out what a Class-A player and person Tony is. I...

Tri-State Open at Amsterdam Billiards NYC this weekend

Highlights from Saturday: Some tough draws from the start. Second round Mika knocked Tony to b-side despite late run by Tony (9-7 or 9-6). Tony went to b-side and eliminated Frankie H (didn’t note score as I was busy playing) Ginky met Mika in final 8 bracket on a-side. Great match to...

    Using an iPOD while playing...

I don’t like to listen to iPod while playing. I find the general poolroom noise (balls being smashed during breaks, balls clanking in the ball return etc.) helps get me get focused and in a zone. I like music in the background, mixed in with chatter and balls being pocketed.

How Would You Play This? 7/13/07 Pt.1

It would depend on the score of the match and how good I felt that night. First thought is to use extreme low-right when making the two ball to try to come 3 rails between the 5 and 7. High risk since there is traffic along the way. Best bet may be high right English to get to bottom rail for...
