Here's a new one, to me! Different tips allow different force to the buttcap

I think the thread is just trying to point out the difference in force transfer with harder tips. The insert was strong enough to withstand the force of breaking with a softer tip, but failed when a harder tip was installed, and less force was absorbed by it. It isn't so mush blaming the tip...

    Guess Who??

Did you ask the seller if he knows who made it? I would say that about 45% of the listings that I see where the maker isn't named, and I ask who it was, they know and tell me. For some reason many eBay sellers don't think that it is important.

    Quoting Attribution Problems On AZ

Man, you beat me to it. I liked your imagination though. I was just going to go with something like "tom" or "john"

    Fast Twitch muscle development exercises

I do two sets before playing, and another set each hour in between games. A lot of people comment on how hard I break. Accuracy declines steadily through the night though.

    new piece

Extensions. They add weight and length (along with moving the balance point further away from the butt) to your cue. The top two are balancerite and the ones a guy on here makes and sells.

    WWYD/Didn't Get There...Again

If you were giving the 8, the guy was a lesser player. Perhaps, making the 9 and spotting it would create enough of a hindrance for his four ball run out?

    quick note about layered tips

I had a Tiger Everest on one shaft, and got annoyed with the flaps that you would see after chalking, even when chalking from center outward. Don't know if this is common or not, but saw the same thing with a Kamui clear I got on another shaft. I have to wonder what this does to the hit when...

is there a better way to practice

I think I see your problem. Are these things you want to change and are having a hard time changing? A different tip isn't the answer. Stepping into the shot will help your center ball hit. Staying back behind the shot and moving sideways until you are lined up, planting your back foot, and...

CONFIDENCE & DELUSION in Pocket Billiards.

I don't think he was saying otherwise. I am the opposite. The more I play, the less deluded I am about my ability, and my confidence goes down. That is why I can pick up a stick after a while of not playing, and run out a rack. The next day I am back to playing lousy. :)

    Extensions trend

While out for a walk it dawned on me. Changing the weight bolt (if you have one) will lower the cue back to its original weight. The weight will be drastically forward from what it was without the extension, but shouldn't be that difficult to get used to. I will try that and see what the...

    when did woofing, become wolfing?

right, but that was just a random commentator that no one paid attention to. I think the term gained traction almost ten years later in the Billiards Digest forums, where one person used the term, someone else said something like "what are you talking about?" and after explanation, decided he...

    Extensions trend

I am currently trying one out also. The added weight is 1.99 ounces, which on a 19.1 ounce cue feels surprisingly heavy. I am having to concentrate on slowing my back stroke more and now that my grip is on the wrap instead of the butt, I need to also make sure I am hitting at a 90 degree...

    Small World

When I was living up in New York (Nyack) I played out of Diamond Jim's. Kenny (HighEndCues) used to have various cue makers stop by, and I met Barry Szamboti for the first time there. Fast forward ten years later, living in PA, 110 miles from there, while talking to someone in the local room...

Why Do I "Aim" More When I'm Struggling?

I think that when you miss a shot, your go to response is to blame your aiming. No matter what the cause, you focus on the aim. When you start getting out of form, and miss, you blame the aim.

How important is the sound a tip makes to you?

Tink and quiet are not the only two choices, as 3RK pointed out. I like the low thud of a Triangle tip. It isn't quiet, but it isn't a tink.
