2007 Canadian Championships: List of players

Yes. The odds here are pretty good. In Ottawa and immediate surrounding area there are about 7 rooms and soon to be 8. There are 3 on the Quebec side, 10 minute drive, one in the east end, one in center town, and soon to be 3 west end. Not bad pool room to people ration given that we have...

2007 Canadian Championships: List of players

Hey Carey, call Sue or send her an email. There are still spots in the open. Bourada just got a spot today. PS: Gerry Watson is going to be there! The Ghost would be another possible bet. I hear he is playing well. Should be a great show. By the way, I saw the tables tonight. They look pretty...

2007 Canadian Championships: List of players

Hey CheezDawg! I will find out tonight what is happening and I will ask Sue if you can still get in. You want the Open or Amateur? I will definitely do my best to keep everyone up to date as best I can. I will be sending Snorks emails via my blackberry as best I can so he may be able to post...

Can jump shots damage the table or cloth?

I have always found it easier to jump on a 9' over a barbox. A few reasons: 1) many bb have rubber backed cloth which I find cushions the jump in an effort to protect the cloth and table. 2) many bb have a heavier CB. 3) thicker slate seems to lift the CB better. As a response to the original...

2007 Canadian Championships: List of players

One way or another I am looking forward to it. It will be fun. I am also looking forward to seeing how Jerod Amyot is playing now. He moved out west and is playing in Calgary now. He was playing as a strong AA weak AAA when he left. Given the level of play out there he could be much stronger...

    beringer pool table

When you get some feedback let me know. I posted a similar thread a week ago and heard very little back. I have been told it is Chinese made and a low grade. I hope they are better than that as we are playing the Canadian Championships on them in less than two weeks.

    Allison Fisher or Jean Balukas?

It seems like a very fundamental part of the arguement is missing. I have never seen Jean play. This is the first I have heard the name. But in all the discussion everyone keeps referring to Allisons 50 WPBA wins. What about all the world snooker titles? She dominated the world of snooker for...

I am hoping John Morra is one spot better than last year and he takes it down!

What happened to me at the All-Around

Unfortunately there isn't enough class and sportsmanship in the game at many events. Two years ago I was at the Limestone Open watching to the match that decided who I played. The match was local semi-pro Pierre Lauzon and Quebec pro Martin Daigle. The two have a little history together as they...

"Better Break" cue poolstick; Is this a PREDATOR?@#

Then grab a J&J J/B for under $100. My teamate has one and it hits great for what you pay. It has a phenolic combo so you don't need to worry about abuse causing a tip to fly off and it jumps as well as it breaks. IMO one of the best economy cues on the market.

Tips on playing the bar box please

Learn the table fast. Many barboxes have poor rails which is mostly due to misuse by non-playing clientel. Ensure you are getting a good rack as that so many bangers enjoy pounding the head ball and surrounding balls into place. The biggest key in playing well on a bb is to have a solid break...

"Better Break" cue poolstick; Is this a PREDATOR?@#

That is not a Predator. The shaft appears to be a one piece maple shaft and as far as the butt goes you need to go back several years to find a non-uniloc joint. The shaft is marked "Spark" so it is obviously something different.

How many different cue-tip positins on a cue ball?

Given the cue is held on a given plane there are 64 potential contact points on a cue ball. Tip size will make a difference to the amount of contact at impact. The tip is not harder than the cue ball, hence, regardless of curvature, there will be compression, ergo said compression is affected...

    Helping beginning players

I teach by placing an object ball on the spot and get them to draw the CB back into the tip. Gradually making the shot longer strengthens fundamentals.
