    Re:Charlie Lane

Re:Charlie Lane Many people on AZ knew Charlie Lane, a very good player from Chattanooga, Tn, especially those from Tn, Ga, Al. He passed away June 1st or 2nd after battling cancer. Wanted to inform those who knew him but may not have heard the sad news.

Name a player that evokes mythical status

Mythical Status No doubt all the players listed are deserving of recognition but the most "mythical" of all was Vernon Elliott! If he played'em he beat'em......well, with the exception of one poster who I believe may be the most honest poster here; and he broke even with him.

    wood for pool cue?

Assuming maple is the choice for shaft wood (LD or otherwise) what wood(s) would best transmit vibrations/sound for best feedback when the tip makes contact with cue ball? Would it be a correct assumption that the more dense wood ie, ebony will transmit the least feedback? Thanks for your input.

    Vernon Elliott Cross-Corner Bank

Vernon's shot The "impossible" cross side bank is the best known of Vernon's proposition shots. He told me of one of the times he was hustling this shot for money ($500 in this instance) and one of the group betting the shot couldn't be made included the legendary Eddie Taylor. Vernon said...

    Vernon Elliott Cross-Corner Bank

Vernon's shot Not long before Vernon had his stroke which paralyzed the left side of his body he was giving me a few tips and basic fundamental instructions on where to hit the cue ball, etc. Afterwards I asked him about the shot you mention and he had me set the balls up and I watched him...

    advantages of heavy cues

Heavy cue Actually, I have no idea what weight is best or for what reason except as common sense applies. But I can tell you why I prefer and play with a 19oz or as close to that weight as possible. In 1963 I went to a straight pool exhibition featuring Willie Mosconi and a local pro player...

    My new Diamond table!

Diamond ? As all the other posters have said, the table looks GREAT! Reading about your table "upgrade" makes me consider the same for my table. I have the Professional which is approx 10 years old and has a Cherry finish. Although it still looks good the wood rails has the inevitable, it...

Is Anyone Familiar with this Cue Extension

Cue extension I have the one shown and it works very well. Used carefully it won't damage the finish. If you have an expensive enough cue you'll use it carefully. Can't remember using an extension for more than one shot though. Also have the Hagar extension and like it too; especially the...

    Best ld shaft.

LD shaft Yes, and your answer makes perfect sense, IMO. I have tried several LD shafts and I can't honestly say I could tell much difference between them except the difference in taper, tip diameter etc. In other words the obvious physical difference. However, if I'm with a group who, like...

    Best ld shaft.

LD shafts Your reply/advice to the thread is a good one IMO. But out of curiosity why do you prefer an ivory ferrule over another material? Why use a ferrule at all if the shaft is solid maple?

    3/8-10 or radial

Pin size? Have someone scrw your cue together and take apart as well and you never look at the connections and you will never know (or care) what the pin size is anyway. However, 3/8 10 is likely the most common pin size.

    Brunswick Superspeed rubber shelf life?

Artemis cushions In an earlier post (5th one) by quesports he mentioned having you install "blue" cushions on his Diamond table unless I misread the post. And, yes, my cushions are "pink" and I bought them directly from Diamond. Thought if I said they were pink someone would say they were red.

    Brunswick Superspeed rubber shelf life?

Artemis cushions Noticed mention in earlier post that Artemis cushions were blue. Are they replacing the red colored cushions or are both colors available? Any noticeable difference in playing characteristics?
