Needing help taking the game to that "next level"

I'm in Knoxville, too. I'm not an instructor, nor as good a player as you are, but we're after the same things. Let me know if you want to exchange ideas.

Center-ball/top-spin cut shots more difficult with a LD shaft?

Appreciate the input, and I tend to agree with the fact that vertical axis shots do not change from shaft to shaft. So let's say I'm hitting the ball with english with the 314-2 when I think I'm hitting dead vertical axis. What is your explanation then this not happening with solid shafts? I...

Center-ball/top-spin cut shots more difficult with a LD shaft?

I am about to call the 314-2 quits. It's just not cut shots, but also straight-ins that are more difficult with a 314-2 (FOR ME). Been trying and observing the advantages/disadvantages of this shaft for some time. Whenever I switch back to my Schon shaft, or simply play with my R-12 with the...

    What is the best tip?

Milkduds a la pooldawg8 are the best tip for me. I have used Moori Medium, Kamui Black Medium, Kamui Black soft, Talisman, Sniper, etc..

WTT: 5/16x14 joint protectors for 5/16x18 ones

Ended up with an extra pair shown in the picture. Would like to trade them for a set (butt+shaft) of 5/16x18 joint protectors to go on my Mace. Thanks. EDIT: trade in the works...

Anyone know how to tell if a schon is from the runde era?

Not sure I understand you correctly, what exactly the Schon purists are complaining about? Couple of dots above the "o" in the buttcap on CX models? They are after all Schon cues, I don't see why the umlauts shouldn't be there

Anyone know how to tell if a schon is from the runde era?

It's not, here's my very early R12 with no umlauts, spliced points, stitched rings, yellow micarta ferrules:

Opinion needed regarding tuning up my Schon

Not sure about the Joss shaft, but the pro taper that the Schon shaft is shorter than "normal" pro-tapers, and that's what gives its unique stiff hit. As it is, I think it works pretty good unless you want to go a little off-center on the cue-ball (deflects a lot) and/or put a lot of action on...

Best all around tip maintenance tool...

Best tip tool on the market today is the Last4ever tip tool. I've owned quite a few of other ones, and nothing works better.

Center-ball/top-spin cut shots more difficult with a LD shaft?

I did realize a little spin being put on the cue ball after trying this along the table diagonal (cue ball close to the corner pocket, object ball in the middle of the table). I will make this shot part of my routine practice shots. Definitely not as easy as I thought it would be. Thanks for...
