Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Yes. Works thick through thin. No special consideration other than choosing to align at either 3 or 9 o'clock and where to pivot (always 2/3 CB to OB distance). Bridge where comfortable, doesn't matter where you bridge, it's only convenient if pivot point happens to be at bridge. Always 1/2 ball...

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Your bridge location doesn't have to change, only the pivot point changes. Also, it's not really my system. I think it actually IS the CTE people are looking for and still others are trying to complicate and change...

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Never heard of it but will look into it. Thanks. So will you try the procedure I posted?

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Has the half ball offset distance and pivot been completely ruled out or is it okay to go back and try to prove that? I am not really concerned with what the offset distance is, more concerned with keeping the process simple. After proper ETC stance positioning based on the angle of the shot...

    Being the worst league player

If you quit, think about what that will do to the 2nd worst player? Hang in there!

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Thanks. Do you know if SpiderWebCom switched? I have been using less pivot too lately, just wasn't sure if it was still CTE Hal style...

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Did CTE evolve from a 1/2 ball pivot to a 1/2 tip pivot in the last five years? Wish Spidey wasn't banned because I am almost certain he always did a 1/2 ball pivot for every shot. Was wondering if he changed because from what I read he seems to endorse Stan. 1) ETC@6 2) CTE 3) Parallel 1/2...

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

You have to pivot behind you. Usually I keep my back hand planted and just slide over the cue tip.

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

The location of the pivot point on the cue is 2/3 the distance of the length between the CB and the OB. Either I got it from Spidey back in the day or figured it out drawing angles in Adobe Illustrator but in either case 2/3 is an approximation but the closer the better.

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Thanks English, I thought it was a challenge you set up. I looked at Stan's channel and none of the titles to his videos suggest to being anything about making 5 shots using CTE. I am right there with you on what initially got me intrigued with CTE. I do think I can show the shots on paper...

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Please send me a link, picture, diagram on napkin of those 5 shots in question. I will try to mathematically prove them on my table using the same pivot distance and a 2/3 pivot point.

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

I think the pivot distance, be it 1/2 tip or half ball, should be the same for every shot (except for maybe straight in shots?). I think the pivot location is what should change. I think changing pivot distance is a variation of the CTE method.

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Which is not what I originally understood to be CTE. But a lot of people might be doing that and creating their own system and calling it CTE? So instead of finding different pivot points, they use different tip offsets, creating a hybrid aiming system.

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Taking exact measurements would be useful in proving the system but not necessary in using the system. After all, a pocket is 2 balls wide, giving you a little room for slop and eliminating the need for exact measurements. I believe the magic pivot point location is 2/3 the distance between the...

Pivoting systems and their relationship to CTE

Have not been here in a while and I am no CTE master but after skimming a few threads on the topic I think I can point out where MOST of the confusion lies in the actual mechanics of the system. The main unaddressed problem seems to be with the ever changing location in the point of pivot. Long...

Would you rather break with leather, or phenolic?

Been loving the White Diamond for past 6 months or so. Plenty of control for me and sounds great. But it went flying off earlier this week. Was thinking of going leather... But might just glue it back on.

    Bring Back Earl

Earl is like the ex-girlfriend you hated being around. Sure the sex was great, but you had to walk on eggshells. I get uncomfortable just thinking about it. I wouldn't want to be in the same room with Earl the Squirrel either. :D I agree that it would be unfair and too distracting for his...

    Florida cue makers circa 1985...?

So mine is a reverse of the S-8. Don't find exact picture anywhere. Had some tips installed and to my surprise both ferrules are IVORY! Guy has been in cue biz for 30 years and says it doesn't look like an Adam. I told him it was the Jap variety but he has never seen... Here is a pic of the...

    Florida cue makers circa 1985...?

Well the old player who gave it to me really liked it. He had a really good stroke before he had a stroke. He isn't the internet type, a lot of cash, and just a nice guy. Don't think I will tell him the monetary value but will be honest with him about the playability. Guess no ivory in this one...

    Florida cue makers circa 1985...?

Haha! Thanks for the info. I just heard the guy who bought it new paid $2500. Guess either he was lying or got screwed back in the day... Adam from Japan for free is fine with me. But it is early 80's late 70's I right? I guess if the price was wrong the "S" could be wrong as well as the Florida...
