It seems to me parking the cue ball at center table is a somewhat new technique, perhaps coming into favor with the soft break. Also, in regards to tracking how often the pros actually do this you really need to take into consideration how many times the cue ball gets kicked by an object ball...

There was another epic safety battle in 8 Ball in a TAR match between Schmidt and Deuel. I tried to find it but don't believe it's available as it was PPV. It was a truly great 40+ minute game though.

It depends. To me having a one of one is not necessarily the whole point of ordering a custom cue. In fact, I've yet to buy a cue for that reason. But since the "whole point" for you was to own a one of one and that is what you were after (and expecting), no I wouldn't accept the cue if I was...

As far as tips go, they do seem to be somewhat price inelastic. Probably because even at $20 it isn't that expensive considering you may only need to buy one a couple times a year. So if a player finds a particular $20 tip gives him the most confidence/spin/control then he'll pay the price...

Having grown up with the game in pool halls and not bars I didn't think so either. I was wrong. It's different and I much prefer the big track, but it's pool.

My biggest peeve about templates in tournaments is they make it easier for the players to pattern rack because they are placing balls individually, so they grab the one they need for each spot in the rack. On the flip side they do speed up play and eliminate at least some of the other racking...

Also, as far as the racking area for straight pool is concerned, the only significance really is in the rear where the extra finger space is. The areas to the sides of the rack are affected mainly by the thickness of the racks walls. Neither the Delta nor this rack appear to have super fat...
