I don't believe Ernie signed many (if any) cues prior to his retirement. I am the original owner of one of his first 100 cues and it is not signed. I also have two that were made since he came back and they are both signed (purchased around 2009).

I think it probably simply reflects why most people play in leagues: fun, enjoyment, and a few drinks on an evening out as opposed to stiff competition. That plus the fact there are relatively few league players that can compete on that level.
