Unable to generate much backspin - equipment related?

In most of my experiences, I would agree with you Bob. However the cloth on my personal table was actually loose enough to give me only a foot maybe two of draw, and I have an up and down the table draw stroke on it after stretching it tight. If he can draw fine at the pool hall but not at home...

Unable to generate much backspin - equipment related?

WILLING TO BET THIS IS THE ISSUE: Read my reply on page 1... I have a big draw stroke but couldn't get any on my junk home table till I re stretched the cloth. Went from a foot of draw to two table lengths in the 20 minutes it took to remove the rails and stretch and staple the cloth. I'm...

Unable to generate much backspin - equipment related?

Push on your cloth with your fingers. If there is a lot of slack, remove your rails, stretch your cloth tight and staple back down. I can draw almost two 7' table lengths on a full table shot... recently picked up an old table for the garage and couldn't draw two feet. I stretched the cloth and...

    Low Deflection shafts

Of the cues I own, my lowest deflection shafts are the two originals with my Joey Bautista cue. My Meucci is next. Then my Predator 314, then a Tiger; and then my Pechauer, Mike Erwin, Schon, and McDermott are all pretty high squirt shafts. Tip hardness also plays a big role in squirt. The...

    question for apa players

To answer your question, I'm a better 9 ball player than 8. I like to play at a fairly quick pace, so the careful planning required in ugly racks of 8 ball can sometimes throw me off my rhythm. 9 ball is so automatic if your ball control is good. I can break and just get to work, stay in...

    Hard Playing Tips anyone ?

Pigskin backed; is the rest of the tip cow, water buffalo,... human?! I may want to try some because I love a good hard Triangle, but I only find a couple good ones in a box. Looking for a potential replacement! Thanks.

    How fast do you break?

Momentum. Also, it makes your arm a longer lever and thus faster at the cue. I stand up/forward as well on the break. As for speed I can break around 24 consistently and park the cue ball 50% of the time. I break at 28-31 when I really hit em. My break was probably 19-23 before I started...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

That is what I thought but it seems like some of the refs at APA events are a little... quirky... to be nice. I've had refs call a bad hit on me when even a 4 or 5 could easily tell it was good. There was a ref at 9 ball tri cups two weeks ago whom I know pretty well, and she is a skill level...

Question about APA rule and also a funny rule you might not know of.

I have APA regionals this weekend and I have a question. APA does not allow jump cues, of this I am aware. I was told yesterday that this rule extends to not allow a change of cues period during the rack. I can jump with my playing cue no problem, but I like to use my break cue instead so that I...

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

Ha ha my buddy said the SAME EXACT phrase when I cracked a 314 shaft breaking! I did, however, win the break speed contest at 31.4 mph :) My mezz shaft feels much stronger and I keep my break under 80% now.... except when playing 10 ball

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

I think you're 100% right.... I'm a nazi when it comes to tip shape... I try to keep them looking perfect and new (why, i don't know) and because that burnisher has no ill affects on single layer tips, I guess I assumed it would be ok on all tips. I just threw it in the garbage lol. Thanks guys...

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

I was referring to the break there... I've never damaged a shaft or ferrule on my playing cue. I use a lot of spin, so I never really have to use much force outside of the break except for the occasional big draw stroke. Also, I do use a pad on the ferrule. I benchpress 315... that's the...

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

Wow tip melting chalk lol? I use Masters. That burnisher pushes against the sides of the tip, it must weaken it just enough for us bigger guys to do damage. That has to be the problem... I will not use it on my next Kamui and if it happens again, I'll switch back to soaked and pressed triangles.

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

I always keep my cues in the house and I don't use a marker on the sides. I do poke the tip a little before I play but so does everyone I play with... Maybe my shaper is weakening the edge. I will shape with sand paper only next time and see what happens. I emailed Kamui about the issue, told...

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

Yeah I get that, obviously all these tips aren't defective. But my stroke sure as hell isn't defective. I'm a strong guy, lift weights, and break at 27+ mph. Anyone know what Larry Nevel has on his shafts? I have a similar playing style. If my stroke is breaking these tips, then his stroke...

I'm having some serious issues with layered tips. Help?

Ok, so I had been using Triangles since the dawn of time. I bought a Joey cue earlier this year with Kamui black mediums on it. Both of them split down the side and chunks broke off within a couple months. I loved the feel of them and assumed they must have just been defective, so I gave them...
