    help me get a clue

Also keep track of your scores and take notes. This will help you see your progress, even if you don't master the drills and give you insights to refer back to when things were working well, etc. I'd also recommend reading the notes aloud, even to someone else if you can. Ingrain in the brain.

    How Would You Get Out?

Alex played this exactly how I would have. Perfect safety. LOL.

Is it REALLY winning if you win with a big handicap?

As someone who often plays stronger players with some weight, and also plays weaker players socially or in leagues with no handicaps...I'd have to say that winning with a handicap against a stronger player is as legit (or more) as winning against a weaker player with no handicap. I've beaten...

Open bridge for regular shots, closed bridge for break...

A closed bridge provides greater stability and is often used for shots where the precision of cue contact with CB is more crucial. Break shots, draw shots, etc. The downside for some is that the closed bridge blocks the view of the cue tip when you're down on a shot. A open bridge provides...

Congratulations, I'm sure it's a great feeling to have a jewel like that.

    Shooting with one eye closed

I don't actually shoot with one eye closed by I will often measure a shot with one eye to get a precise line, like when there is just a hair of space to get past a ball or into a pocket.

The most difficult thing you have mastered in pool.

I think I have mastered chalking but that's about it.

    How Would You Play This?

I thought about safe on the rail behind the 7 and 9. But even if you get BIH, you may not get a chance to free up the 7 and a good chance you'll have to try safe again after the 6. Getting shape or freeing the 7 from the 6 is much harder than what's presented from the 5 in the picture.

    How Would You Play This?

This seems to be the only solid option, imo. Pretty much anything else and the 7 and 9 cause bigger challenges than from here.

    Newbie Adoption/Mentoring

I'd like to get folks opinion on an idea I have that may help a new person interested in pool, or maybe introduce pool to someone that may not otherwise considered giving the game a try. In addition to pool, I'm a motorcycle enthusiast, and I used to hang out on mc forums which were basically...

New US Open Rack & Break Rules "Could" Be A Fiasco

While they may have tougher fairways, obstacles in golf...this is not the same as breaking rules with pool. In golf, you are not required to tee off from a specific spot (except behind a line) or drive a specified distance or get penalized for placing a (legal) shot more to your liking...

    How Would You Run These?

I'm probably taking the natural angle, right off the long rail. It is coming across the line and I agree the 3 rail option will bring you in line. It also looks like in the pic, that the 3 rail options is what the player is about to do. However, my stroke would probably leave me on the short...

9ball without the break is NO 9ball...

SakuJack, I understand your perspective. I would guess you're at least a decent player who probably takes their game a bit seriously. Make no mistake, however, you are in a minority. There are always purists in every sport, but the majority of sports spectators are not as knowledgeable about...

9ball without the break is NO 9ball...

With all the banter recently about pro players dumping matches, pro players rigging racks, it's becoming crystal clear exactly who has turned off the mainstream audience and the big corporate sponsors. There are more pool leagues currently than I ever remember seeing for the average joe...

What are 10 or less rules you would give to a player learning 14.1?

Rabbits! Rabbits (or bunnies) always jump in the hole. So I hunt them down like Elmer Fudd. Great thread and advice, thanks!
