    No bias APA vs BCA

I hover around 650 fargo and have been up near 680. I played BCA for many years (finished top player in league a few times) and have been to Vegas around 10 times. I stopped playing BCA and now play VNEA (which is almost identical to BCA in format/competition) and also play APA Masters. In...

Drop pocket vs. gully... what is your preference and why?

Drop pockets. Ball return is loud at home and the older you get, the less you want to bend down and get balls from the return. And, if you play any one pocket, it helps prevent sleeping balls. -td

    Extension

What cue do you have? I think there are a lot of good options out there, but I don't like that twist on one. It's heavy and cumbersome. The Drill Instructor makes a Bazooka extension that is a plastic variation of the old Hager version. It's pretty good, but a little long. Simple to use...

Curious as to why no one plays with/without an extension dependent on the shot.

They do. Not on every shot, but I've seen pros add an extension for particular shots - like when bridging an awkward distance from the rail and you want more room on your cue, or when the cue ball is frozen to the rail and you want a little more weight on the cue. Oscar just did this in a...

    Aiming for power draw

Cloth is the original stuff that came with the table in August 2020, so almost 4 years old. [9' Diamond, pro-cut pockets, Simonis 860 HR]. Balls are the new Ararmith 100 anniversary set. They have over 100 hours on them, but are generally clean because I run them through the ball cleaner once...

    Intentional sharking or not?

Nope. Just nerves. They asked Pijus and he said he didn't even see it. -td

Just from your picture, the cloth looks OK and probably plays fair even now. That said, if the burn spots are bothering you, you can "upgrade" to a light color like tournament blue or the Matchroom gray. They hid the white marks better. HR will last a long time, even with significant table...

    Aiming for power draw

I'm in the Houston area, ha! There are a fair number of pros for lessons in the Houston area. Roberto is here if you want world class, but there are also a lot of 700+ Fargo players/instructors. Depending on what you are looking for, you can get quality instruction in H-town. No prob. -td

    Aiming for power draw

No, not on purpose. There are 2 main reasons I mis-hit these shots: 1) It is hard to cue the ball at that spot. The bridge distance is too short to use a normal table bridge, but too long for a good rail bridge (for me). This causes a small mis-hit on occasion. 2) Shooting with that much...

    Aiming for power draw

I just tried the shot you suggested (shooting from 7 diamonds away) and it's actually hard to bridge from there. That said, on my 9' diamond I can get around 18-20 diamonds of draw, with a slightly elevated cue due to the rail. My cloth is maybe 4 years old, but the balls are pretty clean. I...

    Aiming for power draw

It sounds like the OB is at/near the pocket. So, drawing from 7 diamonds away, and then back, is around 15 diamonds of draw (back position below). It sounds like you are shooting from around the side pocket [4 diamonds from 1 ball]? That's only a 3 diamond difference, so you are drawing 12...

    Aiming for power draw

Q: Just to understand what you're getting and what you want, what number reflects your draw amount on this shot [shooting the 8 one diamond away]? And where do you want to end up? For example, if you can consistently shoot the 8 (from one diamond away) and draw to the short rail and back to...

Does anyone call a miscue hit a foul if the ball lifts off the table?

Yes. Sanjin called by Marcel [vs SVB]. @17:10

    Diamond 9ft Pocket size..

If you play a lot of straight pool, then go for 4.75". Otherwise, I think 4.5 will do you fine. It's not too hard for rotation games or 8-ball. But it really limits runs for straight. If you call diamond, I would bet that tell you they sell 4.5" [pro cut] significantly more than bigger...

    Anyone bought the aramith 100's?

For those interested: Aramith 100's have a really nice presentation. Box is heavy duty and the latching mechanism is cool! The Simonis on the lid is a nice touch. We played with one set of the Aramith 100's for a couple hours last night. It's no surprise that the balls play great. I...
