    Ever been jarred before?

Had it happen to me playing $50 sets. Realized something felt wrong, pulled up even and went home. I felt that way for about four hours. My opponent from that night got busted by my friend, then got out of line and got barred from the place. Karma? -s

    trouble with tip (Talisman) seperating

I use Talisman H tips. About half(!) of mine do this, I'm on the last one out of the ten i bought last time. The good news is twofold: the other ones last about 18 months, and I got them for $6 apiece. Overall, it's been worth it for me, but if I were paying $20+ installed, I'd be thinking...

    TAR 25 and the forums

Some of us poor yanks are watching, too. I quite enjoy the way they go sit down and shut up when they miss. Personally, I prefer the quiet version. Plus, the crowd (yes, crowd. they draw crowds over there) actually knows when to clap and/or cheer. -s /starts in 15 minutes, Ronnie's up 15-10

8 car pile up vs Cool Cucumber

I forced myself to watch through the second break shot. Amazing composure that Edwin guy's got. I suspect, at that level of a big tourney, that I'd have an official watching full-time by then. -s

How aiming got its own zone?

Basically, aiming discussions have turned into 'us vs. them'. Some posters above point to one side as the problem, but really, it's both 'sides' which perpetuate the dispute. -s

    Costs for...

    3. it's a taper, tappers are tools for scuffing tips. 3. if you have an old growth 13mm shaft, please don't RUIN it by turning it down to 12mm! Send it to me and I'll buy you a mcdermott shaft or something you can cut into a toothpick. -s

Why do my tips always glaze?

glaze, you say? this is a problem? as long as there's chalk over it and you have a straight stroke, it should be fine :D i play exclusively with 'glazed' tips. currently talisman 'H', and they last 12-18 months with no scuffing, no shaping (after initial break-in). don't really have a...

Why Is The "Aiming By Halves" Thread Locked?

With exactly the same eyesight, hand/eye coordination, aptitude for math/geometry, physics knowledge, game/puzzle experience, competitiveness? You cannot prove this argument scientifically, using the methods you propose. furthermore, I can't think of a method which would prove it, either way...

    What's The Call ?

I would like to clarify, it's not a foul, just not a legal break. This situation is clearly outlined in section B.2 of the rules. -s edit: in most cases, I would use the option to let the player re-break when this happens :) once.

    What's The Call ?

http://www.vnea.com/8-ball-rules.aspx see H.4 When placing the cueball in position, any forward stroke motion contacting the cue ball will be a foul, if not a legal shot. but you already know my opinion was the same. -s edit: there is no mention of 'crossing the headstring' in the section...

Calling Bob Jewett or Dr. Dave. Jumping the cueball off a rail.

I have seen a player use this 'hop' to lengthen a kick angle when trying to make a hit. The 'in-angle' was around 45 deg. It worked. -s

AIMING BY HALVES - A Fractional Technique

As with most threads that become pissing contests, I'd like to remind the negative side/naysayers: Go read another thread. Let people who have a positive viewpoint and constructive things to say enjoy their discussion. I know this won't stop anyone, but it makes me feel marginally better. -s...

AIMING BY HALVES - A Fractional Technique

I think this is the key point some have missed. Defined thusly, ABH could be a big help to some. Now, just combine this 'bracketing' with some BHE and you can do anything :D -s
