Still feel like a newbie after 30 years

I first started playing pool when I was 13 and 30 years later, sometimes I still feel like a kid again. I have bought and sold countless cues in the last 15 years, and as far as I can recall, I have had very few issues with mushroomed tips. I generally prefer old cues with old tips as they...

    Cue ID please Tad?

My vote is an early TAD or possibly, but unlikely a Schrager.

Does anyone know the pin size on a stainless joint on a Abe Rich Cue ?

Should be a short blunt nose 5/16x14 if I recall correctly. Possibly an 18. It’s been a while since I’ve had a Rich, though my Sal Rich cue is 5/16x18.

    Here’s an interesting one

I think the shaft is not original as the joint collar length is different and the ring is not centered. For some reason I get an Olivier feeling from the joint area, though the buttsleeve is more 60’s/70’s with a touch of Doc Frye to it.

    Purpleheart Titlist Beauty

Curious, from the photos the ferrule appears to be long. Is it longer than the standard 1”?

    Purpleheart Titlist Beauty

Palmer had centered pins in some pre catalog cues ca.1964, Kershenbrock’s from the late 70’s had them too. though I do believe the cue in question is much newer. The pin is quite attractive too.

    Another who made it

Mali. When I get home I will post a few pictures of my old Mail joints. Probably late 60s and not worth a lot. I think two of mine still have the Mail stickers near the joint.

    Brunswick by Falcon?

5/16x18. Now that I think about it, Falcon used 5/16x14. One of my favorite shafts is an old Falcon shaft. my gut tells me it is a full splice with a buttsleeve. When I take the buttcap off the sleeve, which is ebony, it is of the same wood as the points. I played with it Friday and it is a...

It is an early Adam. Which model, I don’t know. Jayman will be the one to ID it.

Looking for Meucci or Huebler Chess Set cues

FYI, Viking also did a chess cue.

    Interesting joint.

I was thinking it might be a Dufferin, as I have a 90’s Dufferin with a similar pin and joint, though in steel and 5/16x14.

Gus Szamboti 70's - Fancy and Rare

I’ve always loved his work and thought his cues to be proportionally excellent. With that in mind, I can not get along with the overly large joint rings. It has amazed me that someone who was so good at making sure his inlays were proportional to the rest of the cue could throw things off with...

    Wool socks............

I have only worn wool socks and underwear for the last 3 years. They are great. Not cheap but great. I prefer Icebreaker.

    Interesting joint.

Does anyone recognize this style of joint? The pilot’s threads start halfway down the insert.

    Need 70’s era cue ID.

I believe the red dot was done by a previous owner. I’ve known a few old timers that wanted as much consistency in their game as possible. The joint rings will help as they are larger than normal and the nickel is centered. it would appear in the pic that the weight bolt screws onto...
