    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

If one of the mechanics coming to the Super Billiards Expo has a set of twisted rails, I am happy to show off the process. My shop is less than 30 min from the convention center. Rob

Need Help With Thomas Aaron Rails.

Just wait till the effects of 3M#10 catch up with you? The last guy I talked to had been using it for 27 years and now he travels the country in a box truck with no indoor plumbing! heh Rob

T Rail vs Vertical bolt rails

I agree! However, the locking action of the newer tables which transmits the vibration of the rail through the slate is better. That is why I would ideally say to have a rail bolt going down into the slate on a 45deg angle....albeit not a practical design it would maintain much of the attributes...

T Rail vs Vertical bolt rails

As a big fan of the antique table, I have to admit that they don't play the same as a current age commercial table. Course, if the question was on which I prefer I have to go with the T-Rails. There is a lot to go wrong with the design as the rails are not held down to the slate vertically...

    Subrail ext. cost

Subrail cost Hi kdeblanc, Depending on where you are there are a couple of choices to have this work done correctly. I would suggest you state your area, and hopefully the closest qualified person(s) will step forward. If you have any trouble finding someone in your area, contact me as I take...

    Should I redo My Table

Hi Jocnat, I do agree with what RKC said about the frame on your table. However, depending where you live I might be able to help should you decide to keep it. The Diamond tables are amazing, though as a player I think I do prefer the Gold Crown series. I would be interested in talking to you...

    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

You know what I like to hear! "Can't" is my favorite word! The only difference between a planer and a molder is a 90 degree fence and custom blades... And it was basically free. Gonna add this to the end of my business project list, first thing first is to beat your plywood tool! Rob

    Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

This is the kind of publicity that not only helps the people receiving, but also the confidence and view on basic human goodness. Personally I get sick and tired of seeing nothing but selected bad news and self promotional stories in major media. Thank you Rob

    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

I hear that planers don't like to chew through metal, even little ones! These rails had the wide staples that are right at the surface. I didn't want to tap them in and have it chew my blade up (again), provided you get the staples out in one piece it would be only logical to pull the nut plates...

    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

And for the pundits, I chose not to use a planer on the rails for a reason. I filled the staple dado with 0.30 and planed the final .230 pieces together so I would not have to worry about any issues putting the whole rail through. Rails turned out great, and it took less time than you would...

    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

That set of rails are the ones I talked to you about yesterday, with Centenial cushions and a 1.380 nose height from factory. The rail height was pretty uniform 1.445-1.460 through the set. After adding a .030 poplar shim on the staple recess, I then added a full poplar shim under the entire...

    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

Fixture vs Fixture It will be real curious to see if a plywood fixture with wood screws can beat a precision milled aluminum fixture to do the same task. However it is like they say "Heavy is the head that wears the crown" and "Pride comes before the fall". We will just have to see which one...

    Most Accurate Subrail Angle

I completely agree with what you are saying about the relationship of the constants determining bevel angle. It is the tooling repeatability that I think I can beat. I can also mount the tool you are using on the jig that I am using, that is the easy part. Sounds like we need to each do a...
