I need the forms help and opinion

+1 - a couple times on this one. Either take the deal or each person gets his cue back. IMHO - there is absolutely no possibility that both of you will be happy with any re-negotiated arrangement. Dale

    Porper linen press

And here I thought they only sold impropper gizmos:) You beat me to it - but when I saw you had poster I felt you would surely suggest he make his own linen press - so I will. 2 pieces of rock maple and a hinge - taper each 'side' so you can squeeze them together and cut a gentile arc in each...

    Making milkdud tips

It seems to be a little known fact that all it really does is save time... about 18 months. Back when this was still America, and every champion would only play with Champion Tips, I happened on a used cue with what I thought to be a Champion tip, based on how it hit, turns out it was a humble...

Looking for a Good Book on Cue Construction

Chris Hightower has a good book for aspiring cuemakers that should provide all the info you would ever want... and more. Available on DVD - not sure if the paper version is still offered. Plus, there are a year's worth of videos, many on youtube, that give mucho details. If the mood should...

Mini Lathe rear steady rest question

Yes on the center - a revolving center will work fine. and I agree that a rear chuck would be too close unless you extend the distances, plus, 4x the money-time-effort to install. Dale

    Kersenbrock -info

I got a call from a friend inquiring about David. Some one contacted him asking for contact info and/or a source to authenticate his very early Kersh cue. So, alive or dead? Southwest for authentication? Others? Any and all leads, hints, clues or reasonable suggestions would be much...

    cue lathe problems

In your situation, I would call Chris Hightower and ask if he would be willing to fix the problems with this lathe. He might not want to touch it with a 10 foot pole, but IF he will accept such a project, you can rest assured you will get a properly functioning tool. Option 2. A very close...

    Another Cue ID & value

There is no doubt that there is much I have not seen, and a dozen cues is not an adequate sample size by any means. Looking forward to seeing some pics. In the meantime, I am green with envy. :) Dale

Always good to hear from you too... On a more serious note, I LOVE the Morado - makes a great cue - IMHO. Dale

    Wood ID help

Far be it from me to critique such an esteemed colleague, but the reason why Bolivian Rosewood is not a rosewood is due the fact that it is not a Dalbergia genus. The jury is still out on the Bolivian part. Dale

    Another Cue ID & value

I am thinking it was born wrapless...:) I have a handful of old Katz Butterflies, and have eyeballed mabe half a dozen others over the years. None of them had a wrap. They were sold here by a major billiard table and supply biz. A quick glance will tell you the wrap is "hiding" the bottom of...

    Another Cue ID & value

Not to be a nit picker, even though I am, but this cue - IMHO - is not a conversion. a leather wrap was installed sometime after the cue was built. Prolly quite some time. Other than that, the only change is the re-finish. FWIW - in 1960 the cue retailed for $16 compared to $25 for a Hoppe...

    Another Cue ID & value

Probably, sort of... thread gauge would be handy because 12 and 14 are quite close over such a short distance. I use the shaft of one of my trusty old Hoppes, if the pin goes it is declared to be a Brunswick. Dale

    Another Cue ID & value

Sorry fellas, short mental lapse on my part... The pin is 5/16 NOT 3/8 as I wrote. Again 5/16 - 12 would indicate Katz, if it is 5/16 - 14 Brunswick would be likely. I have seen several of these "double" Butterflies by Katz, never one from Brunswick, though that is far from conclusive...
