So I Joined the APA.. BIG Mistake

I am with Chris on this one. What kind of person is the other captain?? the kind that lets you shoot the eight knowing the seven is still on the table in a five dollar tournament. Then calls you on it. give me a break. I learned my apa lesson long time ago, If you make it to the end of the...

    Pivot Point

I am going to need a few days.... this is all kind of new to me. aside from that, DTL said: Must be raising up or moving during the last forward stroke I just recently noticed this is a problem for me. I might need a a couple weeks... thx for the input guys, maybe we all get a little better...

    Pivot Point

I found my pivot point as well, following drDave video. I was able to spin the ball in place pretty good a couple times, not always. I can see the benefit of bridging exactly there on a breakshot in nine ball. On a long straight shot, I see no advantage whatsoever. If, on an off center hit...

    Pivot Point

Neither, I dont use ghost ball, nor do I aim at any point on the ob. Target was the wrong word. I see two lines, one from the pocket to object ball, the other from ob to cueball. I then get everything on line from me to the cueball and hit it as best I can on this line. thx steven

    Pivot Point

Very interesting. In the past I would intentionally not read threads with bhe, pivot, aiming, etc. I like the way I do it and might be to old to change anyway. however... After watching a video or two about pivot lenght I am curious. For me, I am never going to use back hand english, I know it...

good post Elroy. It is a very good feeling when you get it just right. imo there are just two ways to make it. hit it perfect or hit it just about perfect. in contrast there are about a thousand ways to miss it, and most of those have nothing to do with pool. There could be something physical...

The Placebo Effect In The Pocket Billiard Industry

However, on another note, I must say that I have the best playing cue in the world. That just can not be, unless you stole mine in the last couple hours. steven well over twenty yrs, same cue.

    Becoming a good player

If one had to choose... for lots of money... a race to ten, eight ball, who do you play? a nineballer, say the guy can run four or five in a row once in a while, or a straight pool player that can run a hundred in once in a while. both very good players imo. who do you play? steven

The only reason DRIVEN missed was because he was firing them so rapidly. Elroy said that. No, not true. I would have missed more if I took more time. The only reason a person needs time is for thinking, thinking and shooting don't work. The mind needs to be still. steven

    Straight In Shots

That particular video was one of the first I have seen from Mr Nic. and was kind of a "what the heck did I just see" moment. If a person could get this right the rest should be automatic. Judging from this vid and the others I have seen from him the last couple days... "it is like I am in the...

    Straight In Shots

The one thing you don't want to do as a player is rely on a "perfect contact" to the cue ball CJ said that. If I need low left, I can hit the area and get pretty much where I need to be. There is now way to gauge my accuracy in this shot. I agree "perfect contact" is pretty much unreliable. I...

    Straight In Shots

"but once his stroke back swing gets longer he misses the shot way off! of which is an indication of stroke issue" Thank you for the observation, that could very well be another issue. The speed of the shots is necessary due to the fact it is center ball practice.... hit it slower and lose the...

    Straight In Shots

thx for the compliment. for the record, they were all straight. Mostly to center pocket, but not always. that table had pretty big pockets, I could be straight in to one side of the other. still straight. I guess I can just see a straight line. I shoot the drill mostly for what I call stroke...

    Straight In Shots

agreed. centerball is a good practice shot because of the feedback you get in return. in a game a little follow or draw is much easier. more forgiving. at least a little steven

    Straight In Shots

Well said. macguy, all those shots were supposed to be centerball stop shots. the shots I miss that bad are mostly off center hits throwing the shot off. The next question might be "what is causing such a bad hit?" It could be any of the things in the above quote. For me it is often my feet...

    Straight In Shots

Mr 200, you have my interest, I have seen your videos. if you have the time, make the video. here we have a person using not only pivot, but ctc? I think that is center to center, and is a damn fine pool player who has run over 200 in straight pool. steven: would like to see a better way to...
