    How Do You Practice?

+1 I also force myself to run 50 balls of 14.1 a few times a week, but I am not a huge fan of the game......it is probably the best thing for the all around game. G.

It Looks Like Pool Will Be Changing Soon

When I look in my crystal ball I see high $$$ entry events happening a few times, then when the same dudes win each time....which always happens... the next event the same guys show, but the bottom half of the entries don't "enter" and just match up to battle between themselves. This is the...

I don't think slop is much of a factor

YUP! that and the lesser players like the sound of "lucking in " balls is ok....it gets them to pony up the entry fee, so you know what....IMO smash away and luck em in all you want....as a better player it is my job to overcome that with a few tight safeties! G.

    A new friend

thanks Steve! I guess I got lucky! Yes Yura seemed to really care about promoting the game, not just for business reasons, but because I feel he really loves the game! and he gave me tons of great info on how to assemble my 10' Gold Crown 3c table in my basement. G.

who did Earl beat in his gambling days?

Another relevant Allen Hopkins comment just came back into my cobweb head!!!.. I remember a conversation about Mr. McCready.....I was working a 14.1 tournament sitting between Allen, and Jack Colavito (sp?).... I was getting schooled by Allen in our match, and I opted to shoot a crazy stroke...

    5/15x14 vs 5/16x14 Piloted

The OP asked about switching shafts onto different cues, which is fine, but will change the hit. So, I was trying to explain how I made shafts that did not come with a certain cue butt fit better. sorry my post was confusing....kinda hard to explain machining.....easier to show. I have traded...

    A new friend

I would like to thank a new friend I met today named Yura....a nickname I believe. We met at Classic Billiards here in Phoenixville PA. We talked 3c and then played a couple of hours on the Kronos.....he was nice enough to let me get a few points......he ended up beating me 42 to 29, and he had...

    5/15x14 vs 5/16x14 Piloted

Here's one of my long time secrets! I take #12 bare copper wire and make donut like rings that I slip over the pin intil they stack up and slightly touch the shaft holding off from screwing together with no tension by about the thickness of a playing card....then cinch the shaft down to set...

who did Earl beat in his gambling days?

I'm gonna go out on a teeny short stubby limb here and say this...... I have been in pool rooms, and worked in pool rooms for the last 30 years....before that I played in my basement! :) I don't think some of you realize how strong top flight players play, and the pressure that puts on you. To...

Confirm whether the Pedro/Mazin match was recorded

For the life of me I cannot see how streaming, or collecting video from ANY world class player at any event be anything but a learning tool for all us aspiring 3c'rs! You can talk til you are blue in the face explaining a position, BUT.....let me see the video and you don't have to say a word...

    new carom cue question

Dude, we are on the same wave length! I own a plumbing business, and I went into one of our service trucks and used a 4" section of 1/2" CPVC tubing slit down the middle and adapted to fit the lathe! it worked famously! I put on a Talisman soft tip, BUT...I think the ferrule is not glued on...

who did Earl beat in his gambling days?

I have asked the same question over the years to many top pros...Hopkins, Sigel, Varner, Rempe etc... since Earl is one of my favs... They all say the same thing....when Earl was in high gear, give up! he just will not miss, and he can bury you in a matter of minutes. No one loved the game of...
