purpleheart is my favorite hit-wise, very stable also, great looking cue and most likely a great shooting cue.

I made 7 one time in a very small local tournament. Just stood there with my mouth hanging open, for 2 reasons, (1) that 7 balls were down, and (2) the 9 ball was blocking the only other ball on the table and I lost the game lol. Was on a 9 footer. For reference I am an APA 7.
