    How Important are lessons?

Perosonally I found that taking some lessons help a ton. That said, you have to put into practice what they have taught and not revert back to what seems comfortable. I've taken some lessons from pros and instructors and it actually helped a lot, that is, if I was willing to change those things...

    Ronnie O'Sullivan

I agree. It's about the quality of the product and marketing. Hearn put snooker back on the map.

    A perfect woman

From what I saw, she hit noghting but net the entire run. Pocketed the balls dead in the middle of the pocket. Amazing.

Alex won Texas annual 10 ball event

Yes, and we all wear cowboy hats, cowboy boots, and huge belt buckles. Oh and we all own oil wells too, just like on the show Dallas. :D;)

Name a pool hall you wish was still open today

Rack and Cue in Pasadena Tx. A few pin ball machines in the back, and pool tables. None of the loud head banging crap you have to put up with now days. Jersey and a few others used to come in on a fairly regular when they were around town.

    League format

Same format we play in my league. In my view it's similar to entering a tourney. Yes, in a tourney you may play several games in a row when you play your first opponent, but then you may sit for 4-6 hours waiting for your next match. It's the main reason I don't enter in any tourneys. Not enough...

just what exactly is a bar banger?

A lot of bars around here I used to play in were kind of like this: You should attempt to make a shot, every shot. If you played any kind of obvious safety without trying to pocket a ball, you might end up with broken knee caps or worse. There is no ball in hand since safety play will get you...

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 1K Centuries - Contest!!!

I'm in, watched him with this past week in the champions of champions tourney. Neither he, nor Kyren played to their usual standards, but it was still entertaining.

good on a bar table, lousy on a 9 footer??

Since the 9 foot is longer and wider, any flaw in your stroke, and or aim, will become evident quickly as the ball has to travel much farther. You can be off a little on a 7 footer and not miss, but if you are off a little on a 9 footer, you will miss due to the added distance the ball has to...

    Playing with a glove

I've used several brands, and found that the palms wore out fast. I tend to slide up to the cue ball. For what it's worth, went to Walmart and found some patches that you would use to patch a canvass tent (they are around 2 inches in diameter). Extremely sticky on the one side. Put one on the...

    Settle this argument

I remember in my youth, which was LONG ago, there was a pool hall that had a 6x12 table and the colors were numbered. Ah, the good ole days when you heard nothing but the clicking of balls in the hall.

    Pool league burnout

If you don't enjoy it anymore, time to take a break in my view. It may be time to look for a different team in my view as well. I been doing the league thing for 20 years, and honestly, it's more about getting together with my teammates and having a good time. There are better teams than ours...

The most I ever spent on a cue...description only...

New, ebony and ivory form custom cue maker. I had the design in my head, we drew it out on paper, and he made it happen. Ivory points on forearm and butt, ivory joint. Ivory stitch rings at joint, and both sides of the leather wrap. 1 of 1 made in 2005 and it's the only cue I own now.

Could SVB be the G.O.A.T. ???

I will reserve my opinion to see how he rates when he gets into his 40's and 50's. Efren is the king up to this point. There aren't many videos around when he was still in his 20's. The guy was a monster. Saw him play at Reds in Houston and he was something else to say the least.

    Any thoughts on bca vegas

Pros play off site, and I refuse to support that, period. I would gladly pay to see them play if they had kept it at the Rio. All food and drink once you pass the guard on duty at pool playing entrance is crazy expensive. I'm not paying $8 for a salad and $4 for a bottle of water. Attendance...

    Stolen league money

The supposed theft of the league money happened once years back on our league. The guy handling the cash made it right, yes, he came up with the money to pay off all the players. Anyone, league operator on not, that keeps this kind of cash at home.......STUPID!!! Out LO pays the team captains...

Dealing with opponents with poor social skills

My business is how I conduct myself. As long as I'm not disrespectful, and a good sport, what they do is their business, not mine. I could care less how they act, unless they are trying to distract me when it's my turn at the table (then they have stuck their nose in my business:smile:) I've...
