    Ok77 goods comments. Jumping is a lot easier than masseing. You just need the right stick and the right stroke. IMHO you have to have both.

    Okinawa77, the reason I thought a softer tip would be best is that it would have more grab on the ball. I've tried the masse with a phenolic tip without success because it just seems to glance right off the ball like a rock. I would think the softer the tip the better, no? Thanks.

    Okinawa, so the patch prevents the cue tip mark, but the mark in front of that is the pressure mark from the ball itself, and that one stays on the cloth forever. I guess there's no way to prevent that one and still effectively practice the shot. Thanks.
